I have searched the forum to TRY to sort this problem, but the closesest I have found is surrounding os1000.x4.json - mine has a totally different number and when I try to see if the file it wants is available by typing https://www.getpaint.net/updates/v9/manifest.os601.x4.json directly into the browser - it generates:

The requested URL was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

It is the latest version that I am attempting to download - but the fact that the software wants to download a file that is not on the server makes me think it is not me being dense for once. I have PAINT.NET installed on my old Win 7 machine, but wanted it on my new(er) laptop. According to the site, the version I am after is the last one which will work on Win 7

I have tried downloading the Microsoft tool which found no problems, the PC has SP1 installed.

The reason I think there might be a genuine issue, is that the Paint.NET installer wants to download a file os601.x4.json that generates a 404.

Am I being dense - or is there a problem please?

You've got a typo in your URL, it's https://www.getpaint.net/updates/v9/manifest.os601.x64.json, which loads fine for me

Can you post a screenshot of the error you're getting?
