Pixey
Sounds like you have an existing paint.net installation that has become broken. Please use this utility to remove the broken installation: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed Afterwards, you should be able to install paint.net anew. Hi, brand new Windows 10 installation here, same error as OP so that's possibly not going to be the OP's issue. If I find anything useful I'll post here. That's not what's happening here -- this is just a network error. @IDontKnow may have a bad network connection, or a firewall that's interfering. Rick Brewster
Try again. The web server may have just been lagging, but it worked for me just now. Rick Brewster
I just renewed the website's SSL certificate and your computer may be mixing up its cache for this. You can try a few things, 1) First, open up https://www.getpaint.net/updates/v9/manifest.os1000.x64.json in a regular web browser (in other words, just click on that link). If it loads fine and you see a bunch of text (instead of an error), then the website itself is working fine. If you get an error, reload/refresh the page, which is usually enough to tell the browser to reset the cache. 2) If you still can't get the installer to work after doing that, try restarting your computer. Sometimes this is enough to reset the incorrect caching. Rick Brewster
For step 1, you can also try shift clicking on the reload button, or pressing Ctrl+Shift+R. This ensures a cache reset.
