Paint.NET OpenSearch (FireFox & IE) AddOn

Recommended Posts

Well it works, I will give you that much but it could be a problem in the end.

1. I type in what I am searching for and it does a default keyword search with not options for filtering out posts from topic, or author from title. So in a way it is still better for me to click my Paint.NET link and go to the search here on the forums just so I can have them options.

2. What happens if the forums move once again due to forumer ? That mean they could be under a new URL.

3. Is it possible that this could take people away from the Paint.NET google search which displays Ricks google ad's ? Remember the ad's on the forums are not Ricks but belong to Forumer. So only forumer benefits from them.

4. I though someone did like a search and toolbar one before and it was removed for some reason.

Well anyway I am sure some people may find this good but for me I don't have a need for it. Paint.NET forums are in my Fav so there one click away. Also I am more likely not to open IE or Firefox if I need to look up something in Paint.NET. In Paint.NET I am just going to click the help menu and pick Paint.NET search or Forums.

Well I guess I will call that my review of it.

firstly thanks for your ideas. Let me try to answer your questions..

1. You all right, this search engine cannot search any term like original site search engine so because of this condition, when you go to new search engine then press Enter activity (without writing any search term) will take away you to directly Paint.NET forum search engine, so at the same time this is another way to going to Paint.NET search engine page.

2. If this happen, then i can renew the search engine same as site admin can change the site url. I mean this is not the unchangeable.

3. As i mentioned before, this engine carries the user to the search result page. So when user enters any criteria and put in action, then user will directly go to the Paint.NET searc result page.. So, no extra ad's no change any rule of site..

4.Maybe this will cancelled by admin same as before one (i don't have any idea) but only i think that, some users want to search in Paint.NET quickly.

As a result; i don't have any ability to make perfect tutorial because i am a novice user, but i know how can i make usefull (as for me) small software helpers. then, just i want to be helpful..

Sorry for poor english (if exist :? ) but i'am not british..

Best regards ...

Ok. Seems like you answerd my questions, well all but number 3 as I think you misunderstood.

As I was saying before, Rick has his own google search page which has his own google ads for making money to help Paint.NET to grow. However the ad's on the forums are not his so when people search for something on the forums and click an ad, the company Forumer makes money off it. But Rick search engine can search four webpages / sites on Paint.NET; the getpaint.net website and help file, along with the forums and blog.

Nope, not removed: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=4577&p=97446. The download for the Firefox plugin is on the following page. It uses searchpaint.net.

Note: the OpenSearchFox add-on is not currently updated for Firefox 3. Actually, I can't even find the add-on at Mozilla no more.
