RubberDucky
I was wondering if anyone else is getting the blue screen of death when they start up Paint.net. I did have a virus but have gotten my computer fixed. I had to uninstall Paint.NET and reInstall it. Now Everytime I click on it to open, I get the blue screen of death and the whole computer restarts. Its only on this program and no others. Does anyone have any suggestions or can help me? Simon Brown
I have attached another .NET program, does this cause your computer to crash as well? If so, try re-installing the .NET framework. helloworld.zip

RubberDucky
It restarts it but does not crash it. I get that blue screen but I can't read it quick enough before it restarts the computer.
Rick Brewster
Paint.NET itself can't cause a BSOD, since only kernel code can do that. My bet is that either your video card driver, or your tablet/stylus driver (if you have a tablet/stylus that is), has some corruption or problem. In any case it's not a Paint.NET issue. RubberDucky
If its my video card or tablet driver, then why does only paint.net cause BSOD and not anything else?
Rick Brewster
How would I know? I was just guessing. We don't even know what the BSOD is for, since you said it restarts too fast to read it. But, again, this isn't a Paint.NET issue, I guarantee you that. It's not installing any kernel drivers or anything like that, ergo it cannot be causing the BSOD. Something Paint.NET is using in the kernel is causing this. Maybe it's a corrupt file -- you said you have a virus remember -- and so the code it's eventually executing is spurious, and it just bombs out because of that. You should find a good Windows tech support forum -- they will know better what to do here. Mike Ryan
There is a setting in your BIOS that restarts the computer on major computer malfunction. I recommend going into BIOS and turning that setting off then read the BSoD information.
Rick Brewster
That isn't a BIOS setting. Here: The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html

Rick Brewster
Huh. I don't have that option on my install :?: If I could take a screenshot of my BIOS I would show you where the setting is. The BIOS can't control what Windows does on a blue-screen. Please stop telling RubberDucky to go into the BIOS. That's just asking for disaster, those settings can do real harm if set incorrectly. Mike Ryan
Read the post: on system failure. Not on Windows failure. If my Ubuntu install were to go ajack during use, it would autorestart. Sorry for giving him the answer that suits my machine @BB: I took one with my phone but it turned out like dung
jonawipini3
Yes, 9 years later. When your computer was reset, the BIOS was possibly reset. This means that Virtualisation may have been turned on. Go into your BIOS and turn it off.
