Yes, I've been using Windows 11 since the end of June. It's not a huge upgrade, but there's still a lot to like. The Taskbar lost some functionality, but nothing I personally care about. Ars Technica has very in-depth review, if you're interested in all the details. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021/10/windows-11-the-ars-technica-review/ Quote My Gallery | My Plugin Pack Layman's Guide to CodeLab
Rick Brewster
I installed it and it's working well. A few minor bugs, but nothing worse than I've seen with any other Windows release. I do like the visual refresh for Settings and other things. I'm glad things are finally moving well beyond the Win8 Metro design style, which was just about the worse I've ever seen. Manc
Thanks @toe_head2001 and @Rick Brewster I think I'll install it tomorrow. Thanks for info. Cheers.🙂
midora
Does the now rounded context menu in W11 really show a a not rounded shadow in the bottom right corner? Would be ugly.
toe_head2001
Shadows on the context menus look rounded to me. Where did you see that one? Quote My Gallery | My Plugin Pack Layman's Guide to CodeLab
midora
A screenshot in a tech blog. The blog didn't complain about this. It just struck me that there was this tip. Maybe they used an older screenshot.

Pixey
So, a couple of months ago I checked if my computer was compatible to upgrade to 11, and it told me I was. Today, I get a message to say that it is not: I have run the health check and it says this is not good: Processor: AMD A6-7310 APU with AMD Radeon R4 Graphics I'm about ready to get an Apple 😠 🤬 👿 Quote How I made Jennifer & Halle in Paint.net My Gallery | My Deviant Art "Rescuing one animal may not change the world, but for that animal their world is changed forever!" anon. lynxster4
@Pixey I would download and run 'PC Health Check' to get the details. I just checked your processor; it is supported from this chart found here. Maybe it's the TPM 2.0? You may have it, but it needs to be enabled. I've been Googling and I think it's an Error by Microsoft. I will wait and see, but this is not very encouraging. The correct list is here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/design/minimum/supported/windows-11-supported-amd-processors The AMD A6-7310 is too old for Windows 11. Even first-gen Ryzen processors are too old. If you're feeling adventurous, Microsoft has provided a way to bypass these hardware checks, and install Windows 11 anyways. https://www.pcworld.com/article/542121/microsoft-reveals-how-to-bypass-windows-11s-strict-hardware-requirements.html Quote My Gallery | My Plugin Pack Layman's Guide to CodeLab

To be fair, in defense of these, I can see that they might be viable for handheld Windows PC, and I do liked using it in touchscreen-supported laptop (even though it's not too essential there as handheld pcs). As for Windows 11 itself, well my CPU isn't supported. This is about it: Quote G'MIC Filter Developer

Pixey
@AndrewDavid put the link in his first post, on how to find out: https://pureinfotech.com/determine-pc-trusted-platform-module-tpm-windows-10/ My computer is only 4 years old - a Dell - and is NOT compatible. I don't need to go and buy a new one, as Windows 10 will still get updates. BoltBait
Been using W11 for a few hours now and my muscle memory still hasn't realized that the start button is now in the middle of the screen... I don't actually like this as the start button moves around... how is my muscle memory supposed to get used to this?! Svea.ling
I decided to take the leap and install it. I do like the new UI a lot. All of my software is compatible, It boots quite fast, but then again I do have an SSD drive on my laptop. I have been on autopilot a few times now and gone to the left of the screen for the start button, but I do think I will keep it central, the only way to get used to something new is to use something new.
