I’m almost done illustrating a graphic novel, so I know part of the problem is lack of space on the Surface Go. As far as I know, I’ve deleted as much as I can to free up space for this program. I love using paint.net, and I currently have pyrochild’s plug-in pack which has been a really fun set of tools— I’m getting familiar with the Smudge and Liquify plug-ins and the Recolor tool, but those are the culprits for my crashes (probably from lack of tablet space). I’m wondering if there are updated plug-ins and if installing those will fix the crashes. Switching computers isn’t an option since I’m the only person with a Microsoft vs Mac, that I know of, so the saved files won’t transfer. This is the shortest warning: ”sorry, but paint.net has encountered an unhandled exception and must close.” The other warnings are long, and the photos of them won’t upload to this post. Pixey Posted May 28, 2021 Share Posted May 28, 2021 Hopefully there is a crash log. Please go to the settings ⚙ (top right hand corner of PDN) go to Diagnostics and see if there is a crash log. You can copy it and then paste it here. Rick Brewster Posted June 1, 2021 Share Posted June 1, 2021 Repair won't help this, unfortunately. Looks like you just don't have enough RAM, and the plugin's code is getting stomped by that. You only have 4GB of RAM, which is not enough to work with an image of that size what that number of layers. You will need to upgrade to 8GB or more (I recommend 16GB). Depending on your laptop, this may mean replacing it. Your Surface GO, like most entry-level computers, has the RAM soldered on, and therefore can't be changed. These days, you need to buy a business-class device, if you want upgradable RAM DIMM slots. I think all I have to do is settle on a realistic publishing size and shrink each page down to stay in my RAM range.
