How do you move images separately?

So I added 6 images in a 2x3 grid onto my Paint.NET, using the Layer -> Import From File feature for each individual picture. But I cannot move them separately, whether by selecting the entire layer or even using the rectangular select tool and just trying to move it. Nothing moves.

Hello @TheSir and welcome

 

If the images are on a grid, and you want to separate them, just select the image you want with the rectangle select and go to Image and choose Cut.

Then make a new layer and use Paste.

You need to have the Move Selected Pixels tool active.
