Ishi 194
Hello. I encountered an issue with the Magic Wand tool recently. I tried selecting the bottom white area of the image and suddenly, it made these rectangular patches that appear where I drag the Magic Wand tool, behaving almost like a brush. I also noticed that the Magic Wand seems to take longer to select something, despite me not having a very large image. In fact its just plain colors. Ishi 194
Has anyone checked on this glitch yet? Thanks.
toe_head2001 1,868
Please provide the Diagnostic information found in Paint.NET. Settings -> Diagnostics -> Copy to clipboard Quote My Gallery | My Plugin Pack Layman's Guide to CodeLab
Rick Brewster 1,791
Sorry, just hadn't gotten around to this until now. Does this happen every time you use the Magic Wand? Or only sometimes? Performance is expected to be a bit lower with the changes in 4.2.15 for premultiplied vs. straight alpha. It'll be faster if you select Straight with the button in the toolbar to the right of the tolerance slider. This will change how things work if you have any transparency in the layer, however. Ishi 194
No, it does not happen always. But right now, I was able to reproduce the glitch by doing what I did last time it happened. I simply copied and pasted the same image that was from MS Publisher to Paint.NET and it happened again with the magic wand when I tried selecting the white area. I tried switching from Premultiplied to Straight (I don't really switch between these settings before) and the glitch acted the same way. I also tried pasting another image from Publisher to PDN and it kinda showed a square block for a moment, typical with this glitch and the magic wand was slow to process for a while but this one acted better as I was soon able to select portions using the magic wand just fine afterwards. I do not recall experiencing this issue with the exchange of images between Publisher and PDN before in previous versions. This is just strange.
BoltBait 3,312
I suspect out of date video drivers. BTW, you should update your OS. Looks like you’re running Win7. Quote Click to play: Download: BoltBait's Plugin Pack | CodeLab | and how about a Computer Dominos Game
Ishi 194
Well I don't recall this issue with the last few versions of Paint.NET so I suspect its isolated to v.4.2.15 or its Magic Wand.
toe_head2001 1,868
The Diagnostic information found in Paint.NET could still be useful here. It removes a lot of the guesswork. Rick Brewster 1,791
Could still use the diagnostics info, @Ishi I think I know what's causing this, I've been getting other reports of crashes in the code that renders the selection on the canvas. For now you can probably avoid this by disabling hardware acceleration in Settings. Just make sure to re-enable once you get the next 4.2.16 alpha/beta build!
