I think the pictures are too big to create such an aura, correct me if I'm wrong. If you look at the faces of the saints in https://firstchurchlove.com and compare it to what you want to do, it's not quite what you need. In any case, if you create a binary layer behind the picture and apply glow and then overlay a layer with the picture, it's not bad. But you have to lighten up the edges of the colored image, too, to make the composition whole. Otherwise, the bottom layer will look incongruous under the colored image, not giving the completeness of the picture, as if the glow comes from under the image of a person
