KeeganT
Hi, I've been using paint.net for years without a problem, and 2 days ago I started receiving an error when I tried to launch the program. The error is as follows: When I tried to uninstall the program, I receive the following error: My .NET framework is updated to the latest version (v4.8), and I am not sure where to go from here. Pixey
Hello @KeeganT and Welcome to the forum Please go to the paint.net folder > (C:) Program Files > paint.net and look for the PdnRepair.exe and run it. KeeganT
Hi, thank you I found the PdrRepair.exe and tried running it. Every time I did so, it brought up the following error in CMD for a half second, and then closed: Unhandled Exception: System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. at PdnRepair.Program.Main(String[] args) Edited February 1, 2021 by KeeganT
Pixey
Okay, please try this utility and then try to re-download paint.net: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed-cca7d1b6-65a9-3d98-426b-e9f927e1eb4d It could be another problem though 😱 Quote How I made Jennifer & Halle in Paint.net My Gallery | My Deviant Art "Rescuing one animal may not change the world, but for that animal their world is changed forever!" anon. Rick Brewster
This sounds like an issue with corrupt system files. I'd run chkdsk and sfc /scannow. You can easily find information about these with a quick web search, they are well documented. You may also need to do a Repair of the Microsoft .NET Framework. 1 Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
KeeganT
I ran sfc /scannow and scanned my disk from its properties, restarted my computer, and paint.net is launching again! Thanks for all your help!
