Unable to open or uninstall paint.net

Hi, I've been using paint.net for years without a problem, and 2 days ago I started receiving an error when I tried to launch the program. The error is as follows:
paintneterror.png.15978f0ea73ee8db34b14eb29ada125b.png

When I tried to uninstall the program, I receive the following error:

paintneterror2.png.0189515dd17aa514bf72ad35a7ec87f1.png

My .NET framework is updated to the latest version (v4.8), and I am not sure where to go from here.

Hello @KeeganT and Welcome to the forum :)

Please go to the paint.net folder > (C:) Program Files > paint.net and look for the PdnRepair.exe and run it.

Hi, thank you :)

I found the PdrRepair.exe and tried running it.

Every time I did so, it brought up the following error in CMD for a half second, and then closed:

Unhandled Exception: System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

Okay, please try this utility and then try to re-download paint.net:

It could be another problem though 😱

This sounds like an issue with corrupt system files. I'd run chkdsk and sfc /scannow. You can easily find information about these with a quick web search, they are well documented.

You may also need to do a Repair of the Microsoft .NET Framework.
