(Answer: counterclockwise.) Now look at the circles around the yellow dot. Are they moving clockwise or counterclockwise? (Answer: also counterclockwise.) Seerose 4,273
*Freezing Rotation Animation (Animated gif below may take a while to load, so please be patient until it full loads.) If you observe the rotation of the central text label below, do you see it turning smoothly all the time? Does it seem to “freeze” from time to time? If you manage to cover or isolate the surround (swaying dots), you can easily see that the text is really turning continuously! One possible explanation of this phenomena states that “assuming a stable surround, our visual system probably uses the surround as a reference to measure motion of the included objects”. MadJik 968
Previous with "moving" colors Ten years ago: My DeviantArt Optical confusion for this illusion made with Paint.Net You could feel the wheel is rotating. Seerose 4,273
*Cutouts reveal several levels of illusory motion. *Magic Hen Who stole the egg from Chiquita our favourite chicken? As you can see on the 4-piece puzzle in A, there are 8 eggs... Now if we permute the triangular pieces an egg disappears along with portion of the puzzle (see B)! Well, this is a kind of 'vanishing area paradox'... Edited April 18, 2018 by Seerose 1 Quote Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever. Seerose 4,273
*COLOR CUBE Believe it or not, but the pieces A/B/C all have the same color. Use any color picker, graphic program or simply cover the remainder with your hand to see for yourself. *BrokenMagic If you concentrate on one of the lobster's eyes, after some time (10-15 seconds) it will seem that the broken piece of the plate rejoins the rest.
