Best place to start for a n00b? Also, rotating text?

I've never touched an editor in my life. I've gone to the tut section, but they are pretty advanced. I've gone to [this site] but the download will not play in my browser, I get an error msg.

I'd like to know if there is anywhere else to go for the most basic n00b tutorial there is? All I really need to do is edit some maps for work, add text(and rotating is the problem I'm having), create boxes etc. After I get the hang of it, I'd like to start in w/ creating graphics and move into the more advanced stuff.

First, read the forum rules viewtopic.php?f=20&t=3446 and tell me which one you've broken with your post.

Next, try this tutorial: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=21605

Finally, when rotating text, try it this way:

1. Add a new layer

2. Type your text on that new layer

3. Use the menu Layer > Rotate / Zoom

DOH! My apologies BoltBait. Thanks for the link though. That is the tut i was trying to watch, though I tried to d/l it to watch offline.

again, sorry for not obeying the rules. Guess they are there to read and not skip over. I know better and am now embarrassed.
