Ohgodmanyo Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 So when I get a transparent image from google, I put it in paint.net, and it is not transparent, It is showing the canvas gray and white thing. My background is red, but the transparancy isn't detected. If you guys could help it would be much appreciated. (Also when I put the paint bucket on the transparency, it won't do translucent layers, so please do other methods than the paintbucket on transparent layer method.) https://imgur.com/a/J0mNjLr Quote
Ohgodmanyo Posted May 29, 2020 Author Posted May 29, 2020 but it still is not blending in. It is a download from the internet. I could use magic wand, but parts of it are translucent. Quote

Ohgodmanyo Posted May 29, 2020 Author Posted May 29, 2020 How would I delete an alpha layer, and keep the transparency of some parts? Thanks for the help. https://imgur.com/a/FZmRcCr Quote
Djisves Posted May 30, 2020 Posted May 30, 2020 Some parts? If what you need is to use a layer's transparency on other layers or images, you can do it by using @BoltBait's Paste Alpha plugin. There are also a number of other plugins you can find by searching "alpha" on the Plugin Index. Quote
Ohgodmanyo Posted June 30, 2020 Author Posted June 30, 2020 I found it out! The image I was using had a fake transparent background. It makes me angry to think why they would post a transparent image fake. Quote

I'm sure the image wasn't intended to deceive. Had they posted a transparent image, the transparency would have been invisible when you viewed it. By adding the gray & white checkerboard they indicate that those areas will be transparent when you download the image. The trick here is to download the image and not use right-click + copy.
