Maggie
Hey everybody...I'm not dead, and that's really saying something. I was (I guess) one of the first wave of people to get Covid, in March. I was in and out of the hospital for two months, and am currently working on 75% lung capacity. Even better than that, on the 4th of July I had a heart attack which they tell me was related to the Covid. It was mild, thankfully. I'm controlling it with an aspirin a day. I haven't touched PDN in months, as you might imagine it was kind of low on my list of priorities. I have recently taken up my hobbies again though, and am looking forward to creating some stuff. I can only promise that I'm checking the forum every day, and will do my best to keep up with everyone better than I have been. 1
lynxster4
I'm glad you're feeling better @Maggie! Sorry you had to go through all that. You are on the eastern side of PA, which was the 'hot spot' for our state. A heart attack? MG...you're so young! Just do what you've been doing and continue on the road to full recovery. I'm on the other side of the state and a lot older than you...I keep a low profile...go to work, grocery store and get gas...that's about it. Please stay safe! Pixey
Dear @Maggie OMG - what an ordeal you have been through. I'm so happy that you made it through and how scary for you. And a heart attack as well. Jeez it really brings this horrid virus into perspective when someone you know gets it. Take care and get lots of rest. It's great to have you back on here 👍 Quote How I made Jennifer & Halle in Paint.net My Gallery | My Deviant Art "Rescuing one animal may not change the world, but for that animal their world is changed forever!" anon. Maggie
Thanks very much @lynxster4 and @Pixey! I actually feel pretty good, considering. I've been keeping to myself at home up here in my room, but big day tomorrow-my sister is coming over to take me out for a bit. Just for a drive, and maybe some takeout to eat in the car. I have a mask of course, so we might brave WalMart depending on how I feel about it. I am dying to do a bit of shopping, but not *dying* to do a bit of shopping if you know what I mean. 🤨

barbieq25
The news from Down-under is that the state of Queensland do pretty well until we had 2 southerners (young females) lie about their status which initiated another wave & then blow me down if 2 others (again young females) didn't do the same thing & now we have hot spots in the south eastern corner everywhere including, schools, aged care homes & a youth detention centre & all but 2 of the state's jails are under lockdown (not mine). We worked from home for 3 months & it was great having hubby home. I worked harder during that time than if I had gone to work. Although we are under some restrictions, we have it pretty easy. Toilet paper? So it was a global phenomenon? We had no, to, no tissues, no serviettes (I can't eat without one!) no paper-towel, no baby wipes, certainly no hand sanitiser etc. , no pasta, no biscuits (cookies) etc. I guess that was rather global too. Now we are finding that Aldi has 10kg bags of flour that nobody wants. I get rather cranky with people who invade my bubble. Space please, is what we used to say to the intellectually disabled people we used to look after & they would quickly back away. One young pregnant bird paced up & down while waiting in line for blood tests & I so wanted to put my foot out & trip her up. No matter how many times we moved, she was practically brushing past us every time! Then, one day out for groceries, we had a fellow shopper pass us some anti-bacterial wipes for our hands & trolley. That was a big deal for us. I see grocery shops now have name badges that state people are a Mother, Grandmother, Sister, etc. because nobody deserves a serve (a serve is a term we use for a volley of verbal abuse). Maggie, I am glad you have recovered mostly. To all of us who are IC or have family members who are, may you stay safe & sane. Lastly, in a world where you can be anything, be kind. 1 Quote Knowledge is no burden to carry. April Jones, 2012 Gallery My DA Gallery

Maggie
Thanks to everyone who replied, or even read and gave me a good thought. @welshblue...I'm pretty well over the whole Covid thing, too. I just want it all in my rearview mirror. Now that I'm firmly on the mend I'm ready for life to be what it once was, and sad that it won't be, probably ever.

Ladybug
Just as an FYI @Manc, you may not have the same effects, but I have heard first-hand from a few actual hospital personnel that their second shot really kicked their butt. Just be prepared and hope that if any symptoms they are mild for you. Quote Click HERE to see my Pictorium of images I have worked on. You were once wild here. Not only do I not feel it, have never had side effects. I have heard from people who do, even close family, guess I'm just lucky. Was told yesterday, I might get a sore arm or mild like flu symptoms. Manc
To all the antivacs, in the UK. I wouldn't trust Boris Johnson or Matt Hancock as far as I could throw them. But, you have to put your faith in the science. Eleven of my family tested positive for 'Covid' a month ago. Luckily none hospitalised. My sister still feels weak, brother in law still coughing. I think it took eleven years to develop the 'Polio' vaccine. They didn't have computers or even know about DNA back then. We are so advanced know it is ridiculous. That is the reason we have a vaccine so quick. Believe the science and embrace it. It's the only way that we are going beat 'Covid'.🙃 Edited February 11, 2021 by Manc

The nurse who vaccinated me yesterday, told me to not change the way I social distance, after the first jab. First jab only gives you 50% protection after two weeks. Told her, 'Will not change my lifestyle after the second jab'. I don't think you can be paranoid enough in these weird times.🙃 Edited February 11, 2021 by Manc
barbieq25
After my first flu shot, I got quite ill & my arm swelled a lot. It was awful. Second one was better & now I get hardly any reaction at all. People often call a simple (but rather awful) upper respiratory tract infection aka a cold, the flu. I don't think I have had the flu for a long time. Years. I have not been in hospital for it at least, so the vaccinations must be working. I'm not that keen on not having a flu shot to see if I get sick. I work as a disability support worker, providing essential personal care for people with a disability. I have diabetes & I am old. This qualifies me for the phase one roll-out of the vaccine here in Australia. Our country city has not had any cases of Covid-19. Aside from panic buying enough toilet paper to last a lifetime, people here generally did the right thing. I still see folk occasionally with masks on out shopping. My question for the doctor will be: If I have the shot & hubby doesn't (not same category as me), & if I get sick, will this give him Covid-19? In short, I don't have sufficient information to make an informed decision one way or the other. 1 Quote Knowledge is no burden to carry. nitenurse79
Apparently after having and recovering from covid19, you can't get infected again. Let's hope it is the case, I'm sure I will be way down the line for a vaccine in our country, you know the country that didn't even have a lockdown 🙄🤯 1

I have read lately that the CDC is recommending people who have had the shots still take precautions because they don't fully know whether a vaccinated person can carry it to a non-vaccinated person and infect them. This is all still too surreal. I went into Home Depot a few weeks ago and was in a hurry and walked in without my mask on. No one said peep. I quickly realized it when I saw people around me with masks and since I carry them in a pouch in my purse it was no problem. I did have a moment of panic like when you forget your cell phone at home lol. 1 Quote Click HERE to see my Pictorium of images I have worked on. You were once wild here.
