oldjoe
I realize that it may be some time before traditional brushes are incorporated into Paint.net. How about a square brush to compliment the existing round one while we wait for the real thing? Would that be a lot of trouble? Ole Joe

I believe there is a plan to completely revamp the Brush Tool for generic brush support in the future. So, why spend the time adding a Square brush, when much of that work will be thrown out when the Brush Tool is revamped? For the time being, just use a plugin: https://forums.getpaint.net/DynamicDraw (September 25th, 2023) Sorry about any broken images in my posts. I am aware of the issue. Paint.net is simple and krita is needlessly complicated. When PN has brushes it will be perfect. I hope it is soon.

Derpy
I'm not 100% sure how this forum works, but I'm hoping this would bump this post by me replying, because I am desperate for a custom brush feature that is without needing to open up a separate window to draw in for the plugin. No other art software feels the same as Paint.NET to me. Paint.NET has everything I need, except those custom brushes - or even just a square brush to be honest. I'd love to see a feature like this added! EDIT: Having just found the feature request post, I do see this is planned which is awesome! Can't wait for that to come, if no hurdles get in the way of course! Edited July 11 by Derpy
