Ed Harvey Effects v3.36

Recommended Posts

  • 1 month later...

Please, stop saying it is fixed. The download server is broken now, and has been broken for many months. It filters out certain IPs (no idea on what principle) and replies with 404. The fact that you can download it doesn't mean that I can download it (yes, I checked it few seconds ago, again, as I have been doing for few months already). The only viable solution is to mirror the plugin somewhere else.

Oma is right. There is no need for that tone, despite your obvious frustration...

first things first,

The download server is broken now, and has been broken for many months.
The server logs and the hundreds of people that download it per day would suggest otherwise.
It filters out certain IPs (no idea on what principle) and replies with 404.
There is no filtering enabled on the server...
The fact that you can download it doesn't mean that I can download it (yes, I checked it few seconds ago, again, as I have been doing for few months already).
The fact that you cannot download it does not mean the server is broken!

I just checked the logs, and no 404's have been issued in the last month (that weren't otherwise explainable).

The only viable solution is to mirror the plugin somewhere else.
No. The solution is to find out why you cannot download the file! :)

with those out of the way, I have a couple of questions...

  • [*:t6s8r704]Have all your download attempts been from the same machine?
    [*:t6s8r704]What browser(s) are you using?

Oh c'mon Ed. I'll bet you're editing the log files and planting evidence.

But seriously, Ed's right. If the server says it's working, and if there's only 1 person who can't use it, then logic says the problem lies with respect to that 1 person. There's just something different in between them and the server, versus between everyone else and the server. Maybe your ISP is doing something. Maybe you have a virus. Maybe you have some other software installed that's hooking and affecting network activity. Who knows. Try downloading on another computer, like say your neighbor's or friend's or with the nearby coffee shop's wifi.

Are you using firefox 3.5? I've had one other user report some transient download difficulties with ".. Firefox 3.5, a number of add ons, incl. 'no script'".

It's interesting, but having just updated to PN 3.5, I decided to Download all my Fav Plugins. (just under 5mb of DLL). I figure I'll check the new Plugin Load Errors and Lo & Behold! See below, it seems that this Plugin is deprecated as it is now built into PN 3.5. Or, is there an error somewhere ?

Actually I'm not sure about the LensEffect, but the other three are definitely built in:

Effects > Distort > Dents

Effects > Distort > Crystalize

Effects > Blur > Surface Blur

You don't need to download those specific effects - they are built in to PDN 3.5. PDN will automatically block them from loading if you have them in your \Effects\ folder.

As far as I know the other effects in the package are compatible with PDN 3.5.

Look in the Effects menu. The subfolders and names are in my previous post.
