Rudje
With the latest update of Paint.net (4.2.1), images I paste from Sai into PDN have developed strange and severe colorshifting problems that do not occur when going from Sai or PDN to MS Paint. Printscreen seems to work fine, so I'm not sure what it's reading the the copy made is Sai that's causing it to error out. Additionally, transparency from PDN to Sai is breaking in strange ways that were not seen before. This behavior persists past closing and reopening the program. It particularly sucks because before the update the only issue I had (transparency not being preserved going from SAI to PDN) was easily circumvented by making a copy of the image as a PSD. I can't work around my entire image being dramatically colorshfted from dark purple-based with blue/pink accents to brighter red-brown with yellow/purple accents. I can share a screenshot, but I'd need time to quickly edit them since they're NSFW. I'm using Windows 7, 3.50GHz, 16gb of RAM. This is the first problem I've had with PDN in literal years of using the same computer, and I do not have the money to replace not only a computer but also all the software and hardware I use for my job that would break if I upgraded to a new OS. If this is an issue with the OS age, I'd like to know some way to get the last functional version back.
Rick Brewster
By "Sai" you mean PaintTool SAI? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paint_Tool_SAI Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html

Rick Brewster
Since I don't have PaintTool SAI, I need you to gather some data for me so that I can debug this. See the instructions here: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/114697-error-pasting-images-from-outlook-in-42-update/?do=findComment&comment=560660 (unfortunately that person never responded ...) So you 1) do a copy operation in PaintTool SAI, then 2) use the instructions above to export the contents of the clipboard to a file, and then 3) give me that file. I can then take that file and import its contents into the clipboard on my system, and then I can look at it and see what Paint.NET may be doing wrong (or what SAI is doing wrong). 1 Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html

Rick Brewster
Okay @Rudje, I have a fix! It'll be available in the 4.2.2 release. I'll post here again when there's a beta. Should be soon. The issue is that SAI is copying images to the clipboard in RGB ordering, and Paint.NET wasn't noticing that and was just assuming everything is always in BGR order. Definitely a bug in Paint.NET. Thanks for reporting this! kenwarf02
When I updated to version 4.2.4 my copy and paste started doing the same thing. Dark Red becomes Dark Blue, Orange become light blue, and light blue becomes orange, Dark Green becomes a lighter green. When I found this thread I thought maybe installing 4.2.2 might solve it, it did not. I went thru all my monitor settings and set them to default settings from within Nvidia Control Panel. After doing some testing, I found that a normal "Screen Print" Copy would paste correctly, it is only the Firefox Screen Copy that will not paste the proper colors into Paint.net. So it may actually a problem with Firefox, but it is causing a problem for PaintDotNet. If you two could get together and find a cure it would be greatly appreciated. Okay, the site should get its story straight, it says I can upload a total of 0.25MB so I change the images to JPG's and drop the quality to 40% so they can meet that. When I go to add the second image I get a failure saying I am only allowed to upload 0.1MB Total. I lowered the image quality of the good copy and it uploaded but does not show here. Manage Uploads doesn't allow the removal or anything else of either image. Even though I dropped the image into this document it says it's not associated with anything and I'm told I've used all my space while a bar graph says I'm at about 29% Anyway, https://www.fandangonow.com/movies will get you the real picture. Edited September 26, 2019 by kenwarf02 Lowered image quality again so both images would be together.
Rick Brewster
@kenwarf02 well that's a totally different issue than what this thread's actually about .... ... but you're in luck because this is what you're seeing and there's a fix on the way: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/115175-full-page-screenshot-color-distortion/ Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
kenwarf02
Thanks for the heads up. I knew my problem was different, but it sounded like the color flipping was similar, even though it was for a different reason. Since it seemed to be only related to Firefox I did submit the problem to them as well. Seems like PDT and Firefox updated about the same time. Anyway, Thanks for the heads up to the proper thread and that a cure is coming. Thanks for all the work everyone does for this app and the forum.
