Text is incredibly small

At first, I thought that any text I typed in was invisible, after all, I couldn't see it.

However, upon closer inspection, I realized that any text I tried to put onto a layer was appearing way smaller than it should be. I'll include an image that shows text at a font size of 288, the maximum number on the dropdown menu, and 2000, the maximum that Paint.net will let me put in manually.

As you can tell by the size of the pixels, the text is appearing waayyyy tinier than it ought to, with 288 not even being readable.

I just used the word 'Me' as a placeholder.

I don't know what's happening here, or how to fix it.

To get the problem that you are experiencing, you must be working on huge canvases to need 2000 point text.

Your example appears to have a canvas width of about 15,000 pixels

 

On second thought, what font are you using?

If you are using a font that is designed for some svg purposes, they are really small and you would need to

select a large point size to make them look okay in document that does not scale like a vector image would.

You can also try changing the Text Metric to Fixed.

You could also change the image's DPI (aka Resolution) from Image -> Resolution.
