l02turner
Hello, I have used Paint.net for years but a recent HDD crash has me confused. I installed a new HDD followed by the latest version of Win10 but when I try to install Paint.net I get a error saying, "Must have Win 7, 8.1 or 10" and then the installation stops. What can I do to install Paint.net?
AndrewDavid
Hi @l02turner Ensure you have your new version of WIN10 totally up to date. New installations can take some time to receive all necessary updates for Paint.Net's newest release. Hope this helps
l02turner
Thanks, I am installing Ver 1803 at the moment with 2 more in the queue. That's probably the problem. Had to replace my HDD and my recovery disc is out of date. Thanks for the suggestion!

You can download a newer version of Windows 10 from Microsoft to make a more up-to-date recovery disc. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO 1 Quote My Gallery | My Plugin Pack Layman's Guide to CodeLab
Rick Brewster
It's pretty common for a brand new Win10 installation to first need a lot of Windows Updates to be installed. Catch up on all of that, which honestly could take awhile, and then install Paint.NET. Also you'll often run into trouble installing things like Intel or NVIDIA drivers, too ... it's beyond frustrating when the network card's driver refuses to install because you don't have the newer Win10 build installed. Hello, that's what I was planning to use to download the updates ... 🙄 Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
