toe_head2001
Earlier this month, GitHub announced that private repositories are now available for free. I personally had about ten local Git repos on my computer, since I didn't want them publicly available. I can now have an additional backup of these repos on GitHub. Private repos are also useful if you only want to share/collaborate code with a select group of people. Quote GitHub Free now includes unlimited private repositories. For the first time, developers can use GitHub for their private projects with up to three collaborators per repository for free. Many developers want to use private repos to apply for a job, work on a side project, or try something out in private before releasing it publicly. Starting today, those scenarios, and many more, are possible on GitHub at no cost. Public repositories are still free (of course—no changes there) and include unlimited collaborators. https://github.blog/2019-01-07-new-year-new-github/ In case you're a GitHub hater, Gitlab and Bitbucket also offer private repos for free. 2 Quote June 7th, 2023: Sorry about any broken images in my posts.
