What did you GIVE for Christmas 2018?

Recommended Posts

Kids (x3):

pants x2

socks/underware

shoes

They are getting so grown up!  I had taken them shopping and these were the things they chose.

Also, went to the movies and saw Wreck it Ralph 2

Other daughter:

computer monitor

mega blocks for grandson (1 yr) and rattle for granddaughter (1 mo)

Dad:

DVDs: Venom (he loved it) & The Orville s1 (he thought it was ok saying "but, Firefly is better"... yeah, dad, no kidding!  I bought him Firefly one year and now I'm having a hard time topping it... :D )

wife:

New ceramic frypan she wanted... I know it's not very romantic, but it will make her life easier, so she's happy.

Life gave to me:

A broken down car... not only is the check engine light on, but it's blinking!  That can't be good.  The engine is vibrating badly. Guess I'll have to take it into the shop in the morning.  Depending on the repair cost, I may just buy a new car.  My current one has over half a million miles on it.

Could be something as simple as a broken engine mount.  Cheap quick fix to do yourself if you're handy with spanners

Also maybe misfiring due to faulty plugs and/or HT leads if it's a petrol ... or injector if it's a diesel

More sinister could be fuel leaking into the manifold and into the CAT as one example or a dirty/failed MAF sensor as a cheaper do it yourself scenario.

Hopefully it'll be a quick easy fix ... but 500,000 miles wow that's pretty impressive

Wife: Perfume, some clothes and biker boots

Kids: Clothes, trainers, coats and misc ... best ones a kettle for my son and a tank of petrol for my daughter (who can spend  on clothes but not her car.  Wipers/ brake shoes and 2 front tyres this past month.  But of course she's a poor student)

What I gave to my family was quality time, whether it was playing Sequence or Mexican Train, or gritting my teeth and going to a junk store with the wife and her parents (whom I love very dearly).

We don't give each other presents anymore. Only grandchildren get gifts.

When you see curious children's eyes, that is a great joy and the most beautiful gift.

Todd—guitar (he’s always wanted one but wasn’t brave enough to buy his own).

BIL—A bunch of spices for game and grilling.

Floofkids—new toys.

Todd’s parents—a novelty “title” from near my family’s ancestral land, because what else do you get the couple that has everything?
