AndrewDavid
Hi @MaxRavenclaw Welcome. Looks like this will do the trick. Remove the white with Magic wand - then run this plug in Let us know if this works for you
MaxRavenclaw
That works reasonably well. Used a color killer plugin though. Magic wand isn't sensitive enough. Better than selecting the outline and removing everything else, but still not perfect. I wish I'd remember which post it was I had recently read about something like this. They advised using median blur, and some plugin that I ultimately traced down to gmic for gimp, but I can't seem to find the thread here. MaxRavenclaw
Doing it manually isn't really possible when you're working with far bigger images. I was hoping there's a faster way, but I guess not. No chance for a plugin that actually colours stuff a shade of grey depending on the density of the dots then still, thanks for the advice Edited November 14, 2018 by MaxRavenclaw
BoltBait
To get the right shade, you could use Effects > Blurs > Gaussian blur. Of course, you’ll lose all your sharp edges. So this will be a challenge. (You'd have st select all areas you want to be shaded first.) MaxRavenclaw
I wish paint.net would offer more ways to control selections. I certainly miss GIMP's line select tool, and a grow selection option would also be nice. I don't think plugins can offer that though.
