masking/layer?

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure what the correct term is, but how would I take an image like the Nike logo for example and make the swoosh part glitter, not like a gif, just an image that looks sparkly? I want to take our company logo and make part of it red glittery for Christmas. Not sure what tools or even the name to accomplish this.

Hope this makes sense.

Thank you.

Hello @theHydra and welcome to the forum :)

A simple way would be:

1.  Select your 'swooch' with the Magic Wand on Global and make a new layer.
2.  With the shape still selected go to Effects - Noise and play with the slider.

Hope this is what you are looking for.  There are a few other things, like cropping a glitter image into the swooch area.  Please let us know if you need more help.

Right - this is the way to do that.

1.  Import your glitter texture into a New Layer.

2.  With the Magic Wand, select the swooch layer/shape.  Again with Contigous (instead of Global) and inside of the shape.

3.  Switch back to your glitter layer, use Ctrl + i (to invert) and then hot delete on your keyboard.

4.  You can either keep the outline layer, or uncheck it.

5.  Then flatten and use Save as to either .jpeg or .png.

Tip:  if you have any jaggy areas after deleting, a great Plugin to smooth out is AA's Assistant.

Good luck :)
