vik Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 (edited) I ran into a problem while trying to draw on my Microsoft Surface. When using a mouse, I was able to draw small lines no problem. When using the pen, or touching the screen with my finger it wouldn't recognize that I was trying to draw until I moved some distance away from the initial touch point. Because of this I can't draw small lines with the surface pen. All my lines start off with a straight segment, after which it follows the pen no problem. This doesn't occur in other applications like Microsoft paint. I'm not sure if this is a bug or some sort of weird feature. If it's some sort of touch only setting, can I turn it off? Here's a video of the problem: Edited September 12, 2018 by vik Added Video
Ego Eram Reputo Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 Hey Vik, welcome to the forum This was discussed recently (link below). The solution might be to Open Settings > User Interface and uncheck the Fluid mouse input checkbox. ebook: Mastering Paint.NET | resources: Plugin Index | Stereogram Tut | proud supporter of Codelab plugins: EER's Plugin Pack | Planetoid | StickMan | WhichSymbol+ | Dr Scott's Markup Renderer | CSV Filetype | dwarf horde plugins: Plugin Browser | ShapeMaker
vik Posted September 13, 2018 Author Posted September 13, 2018 Unchecking the Fluid mouse input didn't seem to have any effect. O well, maybe it'll be fixed in a future update. According to that link, the bug has been identified.
Trek4884 Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 Mine does it too. I'm using a Lenovo touchscreen laptop. The stylus cannot make small marks or detailed lines. I have to start moving the pen first without it drawing any lines until it starts drawing. NO settings changes make any difference.
toe_head2001 Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 The issue is yet to be addressed. It has been mentioned as a development priority though. https://blog.getpaint.net/2018/12/26/whats-next-for-paint-net-in-2019/ My Gallery | My Plugin Pack Layman's Guide to CodeLab
