Word sifting/ Typography

Recommended Posts

I came across this cool site ... well it's cool if like me you're into Typography ... and thought I'd share for anyone like-minded.

https://wordsift.org/

You basically type your text or copy and paste from the 'Net and it sifts it into 4 different layouts.  It's saved as a .png

One example

word_sift1.jpg

Good for typography.  For example I used pyro's GridWarp

wordsift_2.jpg

Good for cutouts etc.  Enjoy if you're as sad as me ?

@Seerose ... are you clicking the ⚙️icon ?   Top right hand corner

If you click on that it gives you the option to save as a svg or png.

Weirdly in Google Chrome I've got to right click on the png  save text - open in new tab and save from there. Or just copy and paste into PSD

Firefox saves from clicking the png text.  Must be a Chrome quirk.

@lynxster4 ... no worries.  Just thought it was a pretty interesting site with loads of potential in PDN

Here's a quick guide for those who can't save. As soon as you click the PNG link in step 2, the image will be opened in a new tab and you can save it to your computer from there with the regular saving methods of your browser. Hope it helps :)

Weirdly in Chrome you've got to click on the png word  - then right click - Open In New Window.  That should open up the sift in a new window with the option to right click to save as or copy

It would be very nice if Paint.Net had an effect to create those word clouds. Taking advantages of the fonts in your system, the colors from your own palet...
