Paint.net won't install on Windows 8

For some reason when i try to install Paint.net it won't install and this text box shows up every time please help

You need to upgrade to Windows 8.1 in order to use Paint.NET.

 

It is a free upgrade.  Just do it.

Yes, you need to resolve that problem first.

 

We can't help you with that. You need to find a Windows support forum for that.

The fact that the Windows 8.1 upgrade is free, and that Windows has support only for the Windows Defender updates, does not make the upgrade mandatory. Windows 8.1 introduces some backward interface changes that I dislike a lot -- to me, Windows 8 is such an elegant interface. It is regrettable that Paint.NET rejects Windows 8, and, borrowing Brewster's words, there is no reason to do that, since you supported it until 4.0.19!

@LOCO GATO, stop stirring up trouble in all of the "does Paint.NET install on Windows 8?" threads. If you do this again it'll be an official warning, and then we'll just have to ban you if you persist.
