LarryMorrisBooks
I have not been able to find an answer to this in any other forum topic. I use paint.net to build layered paperback cover designs. In any given design I may have a dozen or more layers of art, icons and text that make up the front cover, spine and back cover of a book. The problem I'm having is as follows: I already have several layers on the canvas and need to add a new layer of artwork. I create a new layer and paste the artwork onto it (or import from file under the layers drop down - it works the same way in both situations), now I need to resize the artwork to fit the proper spot in the design. Even though it's on its own layer and it selected, when I select resize from the image drop down, it resizes the entire canvas, not the selected object. Any help? BoltBait
Try this instead: On your new layer with artwork, select the art and use the Move Selected Pixels tool to adjust the size and placement of the art. LarryMorrisBooks
That's what I do now and it's difficult sometimes to maintain the correct aspect ratio of the image - that's why I was hoping that the resize option on the image drop down would work or that perhaps I was using it incorrectly. BoltBait
To maintain the correct aspect ratio, just hold down the shift key while resizing. LarryMorrisBooks
I had no idea that holding down the shift key maintained the aspect ration when you dragged a corner to resize. Thanks, you saved my bacon, that's exactly the fix I needed, it had been driving me crazy ... Is this little tidbit in any of the online help and are there other shortcuts mentioned like this??
