Hello,
My second day on Paint.net.
1. How to reduce or enlarge the image on the screen without change the ratio?
2. See attached pictures: Why is the jpg picture in the corner and not on the whole page?
Thanks!

0. Where do you have downloaded this outdated version? Actual is 4.0.21. You should really update because many bugs are fixed and features enhanced.

1. Select the image part with the Rectangle Select Tool  :Selection: or  (Ctrl + A) for the whole image, choose Move selected pixel :MoveSelectionTool: , hold Shift key pressed and drag one of the 8 nubs on the edge to resize or go in the menu Image -> Resize, check the Checkbox "Maintain aspect ratio" and choose a new width or height.

2. What have you done to load this image? Do you have paste it in an empty new layer?

3. Please read the Online Manual.

Well, it's clear, that if one image is smaller than the other and both loaded in seperate layers, the final size is dictated by the bigger image.

I never use it in such way. If I want combine two image like this, I would first load the image with the man as background layer, adding a new layer, loading and resizing the ball in a separate image, so that it would be smaller than the main image, copy and paste him into the new layer of the men-image, and then I would finetune the size.

Your basket ball must be in the uppermost layer.

what is the use of the little circle in the center of the ball?

It's the Rotation Center for a new or selected object and can be pulled somewhere else. If done, you see a button with a blue arrow. If you click it, the Rotation Center is back in the real center position.

Hello,I get two questions about two features, which annoys me a lot.

1.I dont want have the image preview of a picture, which I save on my computer.

How I can stop this feature,if I see nothing in the preferences.

2.Why a picture is saved always as Vegeta.pdn,

I have enough of it,that paint.net or the computer doesnt remember,

that it has to save the file as JPG!!

Always pdn,and then I have scroll and click, that it is jpg.

It annoys me a lot,i have to work with a lot of pictures.

3.Why the Gradients are so less and ugly.

Its not compared to the awesome colourful gradients in gimp.

Could you help me!?

The preferences"Einstellungen"in Paint.net are so less?.

That is the way the Paint.NET save dialog works for all formats that have options the user can configure, it can not be changed in the preferences.

From the FAQ:

Can I change the default save format to JPG?

No, jpeg is a "lossy" format. That is, every time you open a jpeg and save it, you're losing quality. This is like making a photocopy of a photocopy, etc. PNG and PDN, on the other hand, are exact formats. You can open and save them as often as you like without losing a single pixel of quality. So, paint.net defaults to PNG format for single layer images and PDN for multiple layer projects. If you want to save as jpeg, you need to choose it by hand. This ensures that you won't lose quality in your image unless you specifically choose to do so.

Thank you for your help.

But sadly, that this page is disappointing me.

And.Why pant.net has not a crop tool?

You have to use the rectangle tool and then, crop it.

A direct crop would be better.

Paint.net does have a crop function. Make a selection with any of the selection tools then press Ctrl + Shift + X.

Selections can also be made by combining areas the different selection tools make.

That's why it's called Crop to Selection

A crop "tool" isn't needed. You use the selection tools and then cropping is a command, not a tool. This is pretty standard stuff from Photoshop.
