Vintage Fahrer Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Hi, I am Ronald from Switzerland, and new here. Have been using the std paint from MS in the past. There there was the option of having an automatic white background behind texts. I assume this is also available on paint.net, but I cannot find it. Who can help? Thanks, Ronald Quote

If you have a new image, you have automatically a white background and can add text directly on it or in a new, transparent layer. Or if you want just a kind of white "shadow" around the text characters, use a plugin like Outline Object or Drop Shadow. You could also use Boltbait's Meme Maker. Ego Eram Reputo Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Hello Ronald. Welcome! Paint.net works quite differently to MS paint. The technique you're looking for is layers. A good introduction can be found here https://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/WorkingWithLayers.html (I can recommend reading the online documentation) You will need to write your text on it's own layer, then add a layer underneath to hold the white background. If you have trouble, please ask. 2 Quote ebook: Mastering Paint.NET | resources: Plugin Index | Stereogram Tut | proud supporter of Codelab plugins: EER's Plugin Pack | Planetoid | StickMan | WhichSymbol+ | Dr Scott's Markup Renderer | CSV Filetype | dwarf horde plugins: Plugin Browser | ShapeMaker

Vintage Fahrer Posted February 7, 2018 Author Posted February 7, 2018 Thanks for the help sofar. I will firts make a complete white layer, write text on it, and copy the part I Need to an other layer. This will work for me, though a lot of steps to do, for something that looks easy. Thanks again for your replies. Quote

Thanks again for your replies. Better to do this: 1. Open PDN 2. Make a New Layer - which will be transparent - add your Text here. 3. Use one of the methods @IRON67 mentioned. 4. Decide if you want the first layer, the background layer, to be a different color, or just keep it transparent by unchecking the background and then flatten your image Tip: save to PDN if you want to edit it in future. Once you flatten to .png, or jpg, etc, your work will be gone. ^ ^ Click to see larger image Quote How I made Jennifer & Halle in Paint.net My Gallery | My Deviant Art "Rescuing one animal may not change the world, but for that animal their world is changed forever!" anon.
