how do i import layer without resizing background

Recommended Posts

Hi @pesent & Welcome to the forum.  Yes, this happens when you import something that's bigger than your background.  If so, you will have to resize the image, like so:

and then use Image - Crop to selection - which will then make both layers the same size.

Importing a larger image always enlarges the canvas to accommodate the bigger image. This happens automatically and can't be changed. Instead, open your second image then copy & paste it into a new layer in your original.

1. Open image you want to add to.

2. Open the image you want to import

3. Press Ctrl+Shift+C to copy the import image.

4. Activate the image from 1.

5. Press Ctrl+Shift+V to paste into a new layer.
