Auto Chrome Grain filler texture

What's this?

This effect was a bonus in the bottom list of my pack of plugins without its post till now.

This is not to be confused with Auto Chrome Noise (work unit is pixel). https://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?showtopic=19398

This effect fills the image with grains (circles) trying to share in 3 colors Orange (25%), Green (40%) and Purple (35%).

We could add constraints as

-a distance between grains (like a regular grid),

-a minimum size,

-a maximum size,

-etc.

All grains are first placed on the canvas (center of the grain). After that for each grain the distance is checked with other grains to obtain the maximum radius possible without overlaying any other grain. All grains could be contiguous.

To understand how it works:

-set the quantity to 1

-set the distance to 0

-set the minimum radius to 1

-set the maximum radius to max (500)

-set the reseed >0

The first point is huge. Start to increase the quantity 1 by 1 to see each new grain appear.

The first point will reduce when a new point will “pop-up” nearby. Etc.

How to install

Close Paint.net

Classic version of Paint.net

Unzip and (re)place the DLL in your Effect folder usually: C:/Program Files/Paint.NET/Effects

Microsoft Store version of Paint.net

Unzip and (re)place the DLL in your Effect folder usually: /My Documents/paint.net App Files/Effects/

You have to adapt for your language My Documents

The User interface

This plugin is added to the menu Effects, submenu Texture (the previous version was in the menu Color).

Quantity of point to draw

Big value could require more time/CPU.

Distance/Grid

Used to align the center of the points. Visible if Grid is checked.

Fill inside

If checked the point is a filled circle. Otherwise the circle is empty. The brush width is used for the size of the line but isn’t involved in the calculation of the radius.

Keep inside

The points are fully inside the canvas.

Draw squares

If checked the point are replaced by a square instead a circle.

Point size (radius) mini/maxi

Set the constraints for the radius.

Orange / Green / Purple (colorwheel & factor slider):

Set your color choice and the ratio between each other.

Reseed

Zero is for full random effect. 1 and more is the Start value of the random generator. It means you will always have the same result if you use the same value. The points will be at the same place but the colors could change.
