Parsing of the name “Paint.Net” on Facebook

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

Whenever I type  Paint.Net within a Facebook status or comment, the name is automatically parsed by Facebook and turned into a link to a paints manufacturing company's website, a company by the name Warren Paint & Color Co.

I find this parsing extremely annoying as I am trying to tell my Facebook contacts about the software I use for my art and not about this company with which I have nothing to do :/ Does anyone know how to override this silly parsing, if it were possible? I suspect there may be an easy obvious way to do it which I am missing out on.

Sometimes it parses out to an auto-link, sometimes it doesn't. I haven't seen full consistency on this.

I find it's best to just put a space in there, like "paint .net" or "paint. net".

You could also use a "zero width space" Unicode character, although this feels like major overkill... http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/200B/index.htm

There's probably a way to type it out with the keyboard using Alt+####, but you can also use Character Map (charmap.exe), which is built-in to Windows.
