lynxster4
I just received an email from Photobucket. Get this: You Spoke, We Listened. Photobucket is now offering a monthly plan for the Plus 500 plan (which is the only one that allows 3rd party hosting)....at the astonishingly low price of only $60.00/month!! I almost fell out of my chair from laughing. That's $720.00/year....even more than the $400.00/year they want if you pay all at once. Good luck PB!! 1 Quote My Art Gallery | My Shape Packs | ShapeMaker Mini Tut | Air Bubble Stained Glass Chrome Text with Reflections | Porcelain Text w/ Variegated Coloring | Realistic Knit PatternOpalescent Stained Glass | Frosted Snowman Cookie | Leather Texture | Plastic Text | Silk Embroidery Visit my Personal Website "Never, ever lose your sense of humor - you'll live longer"
BoltBait
Um... I pay $120 per YEAR for hosting for http://www.BoltBait.com and that includes EVERYTHING! Why would I pay $400 per year just to host some pictures with a really lame interface including TONS of ads? Go home, photobucket. You're drunk! 2 2 Quote Click to play: Download: BoltBait's Plugin Pack | CodeLab | and how about a Computer Dominos Game
Rick Brewster
$400 per year? Are they really trying to charge everyone that? Putting aside for a moment the customer-hostile approach that will doom them, that is also just a terrible business model. It'll be pretty easy for a competitor to swoop in and offer it for half the price along with a simple data transfer script. That's why everyone's images are disappearing from the forum. I just found a hosting site for $41.00/yr (introductory offer) with my own domain name. I took the 3-year subscriber plan for $122. Subsequent 3-year terms will be a little less than double, but I have full control of my images now. What PB is doing is wrong, wrong.... how many people would pay that much??? Scooter
I was simply thrilled, when I returned from vacation to find the Photobucket coup d'état. Of late, I have had to work around PB's constant barrage of ads and insane popups, so that my fast dwindling patience was at a breaking point anyway. Now This, too much, too little respect for long time customers/suffers of non-productive changes. I have found several sites that host photos , drawings, similes for free. Some are a bit cumbersome and others seem to be not to suit my style. There are two I can use with our beloved PDN and are both free to use: Postimage https://postimages.org/ and NickPicHost https://nickpic.host/ . No endorsement is meant other than to say, I can use either and they work with PDN- your mileage may vary . As an aside Nick, the guru of, NickPicHost does offer to transfer from PB to his site, any or all of your photos and /or albums as a service, for a very small sum (details @ https://bx.rs/update-photobucket-transfers/) Hope we all can find hosts we can rely on and trust so our paint.net can be all that it can be. I'm getting too old for this "aggravation" -can' t imagine how Rick and the other admins can keep their sanity -Bless 'em all Quote Scooter Age is only a number --in my case a Really BIG number, but there you have it When the prefect paint.net image is created, I will still be wondering "How they Do that?"- sigh☺️
DragonsLion
OK, I think I know what I'm doing with Amazon Web Services now. Pros: Quick to set up Relatively easy to use, at least in its barest-bones form (more on that later) Lots of neat nerdy features, for those with the time/ability to take advantage of them Relatively generous (first 5 GB of storage and 20,000 HTTP GETs (read requests, like when someone accesses a post with your thumbnail in it) are free Cons: Requires at least some IT savvy to do anything really specific Is only free for one year (currently) - Amazon, being the mothership, can of course change their terms whenever they damn well please Requires you to circumvent several security defaults to make your stuff truly accessible in the way most people want As with everything, YMMV. Cheers!
pdnnoob
Uff. Popped in to take a look around after a long hiatus and this is what photobucket had waiting for me? How rude. I still have access to my account, but moving everything to a new hosting site is a bit more than I have time for If there's any demand for my tutorials, I'll be happy to help out with bringing back the images. Otherwise...ugh. 1 Quote No, Paint.NET is not spyware...but, installing it is an IQ test. ~BoltBait Blend modes are like the filling in your sandwich. Maximilian
I've experienced the problem described by MadJik for the whole of today. I however think it's not a reason to worry about. Sometimes this happens when they are updating the service somehow, or when they're doing backups.
