Photobucket sucks.

My apologies to all PDN forum fans if they are trying to view my Gallery or do any tutorials. Photobucket have decided to make people pay to be able to post images on forums. 3rd party hosting is now no longer available to people with free accounts. They want money. I think this is nothing short of blackmail no better than a virus demanding money for access to your files. I strongly object to this and will not be paying up. 

While I can still upload and access my photos, the whole point of uploading them was for this forum so people could see them. 

I may decide to find another solution but right now I have no intention of redoing all of my Gallery and tuts. 

Once again I am sorry you can't see my images now especially on the tuts. Most inconvenient for all concerned.

I use a free photobucket account and it still works, I just checked it.

I dont know if they have sent me anything cause I don't read anything they send.

If they do charge I'll have to change cause I dont have funds for them.

Same from me - I moved most of images to Imgur a few years back but not sure how long those links will work here either.

 

What is the point of an image hosting service that won't host images? Botophucket!

Goonie, can you put them into a PDF? If they are showing up for you when you access the forum, you could do a copy & paste into Word (or equiv.) & save it as a PDF. PB got the boot from me years back. I used DArt for a bit but decided to pay for image shack as Imgur I found too clunky.

Strange thing is that not all images are affected. Many are still there. Still not good enough though. The first I found out this was happening was when I received an email from them with new T&C`s . You think they could have at least given people a few months notice that this was going to happen instead of just changing things right out of the blue. 

 

Not sure how to use PDF`s. I can read them easy enough but have never made any myself. I was thinking of going back to dArt. But for now I am too busy with Blender anyway. Made my first ever car - a BMW Z4 . Not perfect and definitely needs refining but you have to start somewhere.

Hi Gooney .  I understand how you feel and I can recommend Imgur - I use it most of the time now.  There is also an Imgur Plugin for paint.net and one can upload instantly.

 

I've noticed too, that a lot of tutorials on here are being affected.  I know only some of the images have gone, but to newbies that's a big problem.  Even though I've not used PB in a while, I have received many emails from them over the past few days demanding I PAY UP

Just be aware; Imgur have the same sort of clause in their terms of service that PB used.

 

A little digging into Drop box puts it near the top of my list. I've recently signed up with Postimage as their conditions state you can use their service to host 3rd party images.

Goonie, in Word you have the option in the Save dialog box - Save as file type. If you click on the dropdown box arrow, you will see the PDF there. Clicky & it will save the Word document as a PDF. Message me the ones of yours that are affected as I may have them saved as a Word doc & I can send them to you as a PDF.

 

Can you make me a car I like fastbacks - esp. Mustangs circa 1970, please? Good on you for getting your head around Blender.

I sometimes have trouble with this, as it 'clashes' at times with someone else's Plugin(s) and crashes.  I've never been able to discover whose Plugin it clashes with.  I now keep my Plugins down to a minimum and it is working fine.

Who knows, when I finally finish this one ( god knows when that will be! ) I might even fancy doing something like that for my next project. What I am really working towards though is learning Blender enough to model my motorbike. Much trickier than a car. 

 

As far as posting images is concerned I am thinking of going back to dArt. Used it before but my internet was too slow back then to really use it properly so I jacked it in. Thanks for the offer of the pdf`s , it`s really nice of you , but there really is no need to bother.

Glad to be of assistance .  Don't forget to keep your Plugins down to a minimum, as this Plugin clashes with some other Plugins.  One of the culprits was Curtis Black, and I think I have a list of the others somewhere, if you also experience this. I found out by thinning out all of the Plugins until it no longer clashed.

 

I always use the "Copy All", with this Plugin, and save to Word with all the codes. 

 

Also, when you post on here - you can use the Imgur box ....... top of tool bar right, black box with green dot, just add the 7 digits of the code in the drop down (before the .png) and it will then appear as a Thumb.

 

EDIT:  Perhaps @EER can add the .dll to the 1st page .

I got a notice as well. I'm trying to download 1 of my many albums from photobucket and it seems to be taking a while. I refuse to pay $400 a year just to keep using my account.

Despite what PB are saying publicly, they are holding images hostage. Ransomware. Even logged in to my PB account they refuse to let me access some of my own images.

It's really sad to know how many tutorials Photobucket has either ruined or stolen from the forum.

Just because they won't release the images most tutorials are gone forever.

I don't think they're gone forever. Good tuts will have been archived by someone, somewhere.

 

 

I'd like to take this opportunity to publicly thank @Woodsy for his help archiving and restoring 'lost' tutorials.

 

PB is the motivation for the project. We're trying to stop the loss of important tutorials by providing a PDF version. We are systematically working through the pinned tutorials and creating a permanent record of each.
