kwgaynor
I am brand new to Paint.net and am trying to figure out how to add a stroke (aka a thin border) around an image. I have very basic knowledge of Photoshop and this functionality I'm familiar with and used a lot. Is this functionality available in Paint.net and if so, can you provide instructions on how to add a thin border around an image? Thanks! Eli
For rectangular images I use Inset Box Shadow. Just set Set Margin and Blur to 0. You can change the thicknes with Spread. Edited May 27, 2017 by Eli
MJW
For rectangular regions, pyrochild's Border N' Shapes may be useful. For general selections, BoltBait's Outline Selection may do what you want.
legowerewolf
I know this is way late, but you can give something a border without any plugins. Put it on a layer by itself, clone the layer, then use Effects > Noise > Median on the lower clone. Set the percentile to 100 and mess with the radius however much you want.
