BlastWave's Gallery - Breaking the Sound Barrier

Recommended Posts

Hi @BlastWave  and Welcome to the forum.  These images are wonderful and each one tells a different story.  I love the fire blast effect, in the first one, and some of those vehicles are amazing.  Great work indeed :D.

Welcome @BlastWave B)

Your artwork is fantastic. I see you play with the aircraft fonts as well

Exactly the level I hope to achieve.

Only been using paint for 3 months - 6 years and 9 months to go.

A tut on your Starship would be much appreciated.

Incredible work there BlastWave! I particularly like the 8th one down (the one with the trees ). You've got 2 years on me and it shows! Really looking forward to more additions to your gallery. The tractor is very well done also!

They're really good. My favorite is the second one. It shows that the rotor is in motion. And the use of colors (from dark to light) and blur aid in perspective. :)

Oh, almost forgot. Welcome to the forum! X]

Thank you all very much for the feedback and the warm welcome.

@AndrewDavid I don't really have a tutorial for these, but I do have some timelapses and a WIP of one of my tanks. It essentially starts with a really rough black and white sketch of the design done in Microsoft Paint, I then trace and clean it up and begin the linework after that, when I finally am satisfied with the detailing, I take it into Paint.NET and start coloring it in and shade it using various layer modes.

Here is kind of a progress photo of an old sci-fi tank I did.

This is the finished product, if I remember, it took about 2 days to finish.

Here are two timelapses of the ships:

Finally, here's all the spaceships I've done so far:

Thanks for sharing your artwork @BlastWaveWe are so on the same page. I'm learning to do exactly what you have done.  Make sure you check out Shapemaker to see what I did yesterday to begin my process. A shape is always a good starting point. Paint on! B)

Teach me, master. :)

(I really like your atmosphere and the tank in the clearing is a great example. I've attempted to nominate it for the galleria.)

Fantastic artwork. I like the silhouette helicopter picture specially due to the shape, lighting and movement effects you've used. Keep it up!

Thank you all very much. I'm really happy you liked the timelapses.

And thank you @Joshua Lamusga for the attempt at a nomination to the galleria!

Since you guys liked them so much, I've decided to do some more of them. To start, here is a scene I actually did for a friend last Christmas.

The enormous armored bulldozer in my first post, separate from the scene. Note the little soldier for scale.

A little World War I fighter biplane, a mix of 3-4 real life WWI fighter planes.

Finally, last but not least, here are three random 1940s/50 race planes.

Thank you all!

Here's another scene, this one of some special forces/troops out in the jungle. Just a quick test for various jungle foliage.

Instead of a timelapse this time, here's a layer breakdown: http://i.imgur.com/97CO0RR.gif

Thanks Andrew. Yep, that is my latest work at the moment. Here's something from the vaults.

Yes! Your trees are great! I'm wondering how you made them.

I like your layer breakdown better than the timelapses.
