psd/ai question

Recommended Posts

Hi, I love PN, but am no master just use it to optimze and slightly(!) change images for my websites...

Now,  I wonder... I understand that psd or eps files contain layers, so it would help to adopt images I download from ie. bigstocki8mages, so I can for example copy just a single part of the whole image and change it or use only that etc.. move parts/layers easily or easily remove background, since that is only a layer...thats how I understand psd(ai files...that they contain all the data so I can more easily edit or change them, while as a png or jpg I can only do so much (ie. use the magic wand to eradicate the background, which is tedious work still and only works so well)

So, am I correct that ai/psd files are more suited to create what I want and is tzhere a way I can really work with these files??

Thx a lot

Dan
