LWLegends
Ok, so I have been using paint dot net for years and I know how to make a transparant background.. been doing it a while, but all of a sudden about a week ago, all of my transparant backgrounds started showing as either black or white depending on what program I used to open them with or if I viewed them online. I make sure to delete the background and save the images as .png. I have also tried to use other online editing software like pixlr.com and gimp to make the background transparent and they still show up as either black or white. The only thing i can think of that is different is that my computer is windows 10 OS and recently did an update (about the same time that this problem started), Could the update have changed a setting? If so, what? PLEASE HELP!
BoltBait
Make sure on the save screen to choose "32-bit" or "Auto-detect". Quote Click to play: Download: BoltBait's Plugin Pack | CodeLab | and how about a Computer Dominos Game
LWLegends
it is set to 32 bit and still the same. I have done multiple saves to of different settings to see if it changes and it does not
LWLegends
When i copy the image from my files and paste it into a new pdn or one that i am working on, it pastes with the transparant background and looks fine, but as soon as I save it and then open the file on my computer to see how it looks, it is black??? Also, in the preview thumbnail in my folder, it show correctly, but when I double click it to open it, the white/transparent areas become black. LWLegends
Also if I upload the image, the areas that are transparant are black as well.
BoltBait
Post one of your .png files here. One that has transparent areas. We'll take a look at it. toe_head2001
That image has transparency in the two corners. If you are seeing black (or white) in those corners, there's an issue with the program you're using to view it. Quote June 7th, 2023: Sorry about any broken images in my posts. BoltBait
I downloaded the image and opened it in paint.net and everything looked fine. The file is 32-bit and the transparent areas were still there. Why do you think there is a problem? LWLegends
it seems to show up fine on photobucket, but here is what I see when I double click the file to view it: http://s44.photobucket.com/user/Jereme_Amberson/media/Screenshot 6_zpspqqki8w8.png.html
BoltBait
This is because Windows puts your image over a black area for viewing. Everything is working as designed here. toe_head2001
That because you're using that piece of junk UWP program to view it. Quote June 7th, 2023: Sorry about any broken images in my posts. LWLegends
The thing is, i can open them in Photos, Picture Viewer, and Power Media Player, but they still show up black.. Also, I uploaded one of these that I had made with multiple layers to Youtube as a Thumbnail and it showed up black on Youtube as well... I ended up removing it and put in a white background instead of a tranparant one just so it would look OK.
BoltBait
You are complaining about the black background... what color do you expect the background to be? toe_head2001
The webpage? You said you used it as a thumbnail on Youtube. Youtube uses jpg images. If you uploaded a png, it was converted it to jpg. Quote June 7th, 2023: Sorry about any broken images in my posts. The underlying DNS issue should be resolved soon. BoltBait
I suspect you are hosting your pictures on a server which is changing the image to be non-transparent or your are using a really old browser that doesn't support transparent png images (like IE6). BoltBait
paint.net is working fine, and so is Windows. You need to take this to a youtube support forum.
