Removing People from Landscapes

Recommended Posts

If I want to remove something in an image, I use the Clone Stamp Tool with 0% Hardness and dependig on the background colors with Blending Mode "Normal", "Lighten" or "Darken". Works fine for me.

Quote from your PhotoShop guide: "After 15 minutes of processing, I’m left with the following image." You can do it faster manually.

YES you can do it in Paint.NET and NO, you don't need a plugin for that. This assumes you followed the guide by shooting multiple static shots on a tripod with people moving......

You could also try the PS Plugin and Wire worm with PDN.

See this video first.

You may think this is cool, but I consider it very pedestrian.

Here is something I consider cool. Taking a series of images shot at 1/120th of a second shutter speed and make it look like it was shot at 3 seconds shutter speed. Good luck doing that with PhotoShop......

I did it with a custom script running in a free program called Avisynth. You can use a series of images, but it's easier to just shoot a few seconds of video. Make sure the camera is on a tripod and turn off image stabilizer.

Here is the script I used:

DirectShowSource("D:\Capture\stream2.mp4")
a=SelectEven()
b=SelectOdd()
Merge(a,b, weight=0.50)
a=SelectEven()
b=SelectOdd()
Merge(a,b, weight=0.50)
a=SelectEven()
b=SelectOdd()
Merge(a,b, weight=0.50)
a=SelectEven()
b=SelectOdd()
Merge(a,b, weight=0.50)
a=SelectEven()
b=SelectOdd()
Merge(a,b, weight=0.50)
a=SelectEven()
b=SelectOdd()
Merge(a,b, weight=0.50)
a=SelectEven()
b=SelectOdd()
Merge(a,b, weight=0.50)
a=SelectEven()
b=SelectOdd()
Merge(a,b, weight=0.50)

It basically merges and blends frames together at 50% opacity. This creates motion blur only on moving parts.

Thanks for the link to that Filter pixey!

It's kinda a cross between Healing Brush and Clone Stamp. It works well, though I wish it had more adjustment. I had to keep it at max setting for everything. It made quick work of erasing the power line tower in my photo.

I can't get this to work. I don't see either of these files and I've put them in effects and I don't see anything. I can't even find the 8bf filter. Grrrr...

@scryer52 have you downloaded the filter that is required for using this filter, which is found here:

PSFilterPdn (2019-01-04) - Plugins - Publishing ONLY! - paint.net Forum (getpaint.net)

Then download the Wire Worm

Wire Worm - Free download and software reviews - CNET Download

1.  Unzip the file you downloaded.

2.  Put the wirewom64bit.8bf into your Paint.net Effects Folder.  Then restart PDN.

3.  Look in the drop-down under Effects and you will see a feather which says 8bf filter.  Click on that and a Menu will show up.

You can watch a video:

@scryer52 which version of Paint.net are you using?  Is it the store bought, or the Classic version?

If classic, look in your Effects to see if you put the 8bf into it:

I have. I also down loaded the 8bf file. None of them are showing.

Placing 8bf files in the Effects folder should work for both the classic and Store versions of Paint.NET.

The small increase in performance you get coding in C++ over C# is hardly enough to offset the headache of coding in the C++ language. ~BoltBait
