Andrew27 Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 I am hoping someone can please help me. Long time user of the program and very much love it. I made the mistake of agreeing to update from 4.0.9 to 4.0.10 today. I say "mistake" because almost nothing involving "updating software" ever seems to have upside anymore. Usually seems to involve, rather "hours of wasted time trying to get the new version to work." Anyway, Windows 7 machine. The update crashed after removing the old version. When I tried to reinstall using the downloaded installer I get a greyed-out screen with a very tiny little grey taskbar that says "Language (English)" and has a help icon. There does not seem to be a way to do anything from this point other than to CTL+ALT+DEL out of it, as it locks up the screen. Can't even take a screenshot as the whole system locks up. Seems to be a problem with the installer., then. Tried downloading old versions of PDN and now they give me the same problem with their installers. Anyone with any idea what to do, I would immensely appreciate help/suggestions. I nuse PDN to create things for my work from time to time and feel it is the best thing of its kind. And I don't currently have anything else comparable! Quote
Ego Eram Reputo Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Remove any traces of the previous installation with this tool https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/mats/program_install_and_uninstall Then download a fresh copy of paint.net from here http://www.dotpdn.com/downloads/pdn.htmland try installing it again.
