JSH20160324
I'm a paint.net newbie though I've been programming computers since 1970. I am reasonably competent in databases, and a variety of programming languages and all of the Microsoft Office Suite. I want to use paint.net to create a jpg consisting only of colored text. I would like to know how to 1. create an area to apply the text with no background color 2. apply text 3. choose individual letters and increase/decrease their size/color 4. select the entire text set and increase/decrease the size to achieve an exact pixel width 5. save as a jpg I've attempted this by exploring the menu functions and have thrown up my hands in despair. Can you help?
BoltBait
3. choose individual letters and increase/decrease their size/color 4. select the entire text set and increase/decrease the size to achieve an exact pixel width Paint.net is not a word processor! It's text capabilities are limited. Your best bet might be to start your work in Microsoft Word. Or, if you want a free graphics editor with that type of flexibility, try Inkscape. IRON67
Applying text on an image means editing the pixels like every other tool like paintbrush does. If you want edit single letters you have to use a new, transparent layer for the text. Then you can select single letters with magic wand tool and applying your effects. You can also use text as a mask to cut out or "punch" from an underlying image (for example, a gradient or a landscape) parts in the form of letters. some examples: Edited March 25, 2016 by IRON67
