Popular Post Nai
Tutorial : Making Magical Crystal Ball Plugin : TR Fisheye effect, ( http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/26536-trs-fish-eye-plugin-feb-24-2015/?hl=%2Bfish+%2Beye ) 8bf Plugin, ( http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/20622-psfilterpdn-2015-11-11/ ) Axion Photoshop Filter ( http://grafnet.com.pl/Filters/Axion ) This tutorial was adapted from a Photoshop tutorial by EresseaSama. Note : A long tutorial for intermediate-advance Paint.NET user. Part 1 : Crystal Ball 1. Open a picture 2. Duplicate the picture, rename it to CrystalBall 3. Draw a circle using Ellipsce select, like what we seen in the picture. Inverse the selection before deleting the unwanted area. After deleting the unwanted area, use magic wand to select the deleted area. Inverse the selection again. Now you can see a circle with ‘marching ants’ outline. 4. Run TR’s Fisheye plugin with the settings like in the picture below ( can be different for different pictures used or your own personal settings ) Resize the crystal ball as you like. Make the background picture invisible. 5. With the ellipse selection still on, duplicate the layer CrystalBall. Run Radial Blur like in the setting below : Use eraser with size 35 and 10% hardness to erase some undesirable area. Then merge this layer with bottom layer. 6. Duplicate the same layer. This time, run Mirror/Rotate plugin. Firstly use vertical mirror, then use 180 degree clockwise rotating. Then deselect the ellipse. Run Blendmode Plus and choose Hard Light mode. Then set the layer opacity from 94-109. Put on the ellipse selection once more. Run again the fish eye plugins again with this setting : Erase the unwanted area. Until you get something like you see below : 7. Create a new layer. Use paintbrush, 30 in size with colour black and paint something like this : In the same layer, paint something like what you see inside the picture below : Use brush colour white, with size 5. Then run Radial Blur with this setting : Then set the layer blending mode to Overlay, with Opacity 62. Erase the undesired part. 8. Create a new layer, Fill the selected area with white paint bucket. With eraser or any method you can think of, create something like this from that white circle : Move it to the place where you think the most suitable. Set the opacity to 146. 9. Create another new layer. Rename it to ‘Highlight’ and change the blending mode to Overlay. Put it beneath the layer we have created before. Use brush size 30 with white colour and paint to the desired area. Then put Gaussian Blur with radius 19 to it. 9. Now create another layer. Rename it to ‘Shadow’ and again change the blending mode to Overlay. Put it underneath the ‘Highlight’ layer Change the colour of the brush to black and paint to the desired area. Blurring it with Gaussian Blur radius 31. Change the opacity of the layer to 197. Part 2 : Background 1. Activate the ‘Tulips’ layer. 2. Duplicate that layer. Set Gaussian Blur to 22. Set the layer blending mode to Screen with opacity 22. Rename to ‘Tulips2’. 3. Duplicate ‘Tulips2’ layer. This time let it just in Normal blending mode with opacity 176. Rename to ‘Tulips3’. Put it underneath ‘Tulips2 ‘ layer. Part 3 : Hand Add hand picture to a new layer. For this tutorial, I used stock photo from Pixabay and extracting it by myself. Part 4 : Enhancement 1. Set a new layer located between ‘Highlight’ and ‘Layer5’. Rename it ‘Highlights2’. Using the brush with white colour setting, colouring the area that shown in the picture below, and then put Gaussian Blur to it- on your own adjustment until you get the same results. 2. Create a new layer and rename it ‘Highlights3’. With the same brush, paint at the area shown in the picture : And them do Gaussian Blur, until you get something like this : 3. Create another new layer with name ‘Highlight4’. Paint the top area with white colour and then do Gaussian blur. Here are the after results : 4. Create a new layer between layer 'Hand' and layer 'CrystalBall'. Rename it 'Glow'. Paint white colour on that layer as we seen in this picture. Set Gaussian Blur on radius 53. 5. Go back to 'Layer 5'. Create a new layer on the top of it and rename it 'Glow2'. Paint white colour at the area shown in the picture. Set Gaussian Blur to radius 60. 6. Now to add up lens flare. Create a new layer with black background. Rename it to 'LensFlare'. Set the blending mode to Lighten. We can use any Lens Flare provided by Paint.NET, but I choose to run Axion- a Photoshop Plugin-using 8bf Filter plugin. For those who interested in using this plugin ( for this tutorial only ), here are the setting : Slightly moving the layer to get the best position. 7. Now to enhance a dreamlike look to the image. Create a new layer, rename it Dreamlike. With brush size 24, paint white colour surrounding the edges of the picture. Run Gaussian Blur with radius 22 setting. 8. Create another new layer, somehow in between layer 'Hand' and 'Glow'. Rename 'Dreamlike2' Paint at the area shown in the picture below. Again use Gaussian blur with setting radius 22. Now we are done ! Lets show what you can do with this tutorial. I believe you can make it better than me ! Extra Note : if you want to create a normal glass ball instead. Just flip upside down the layer 'CrystalBall' after Step 4. Another example : Edited February 15, 2016 by Nai

Nai
I tried attempting this tutorial and when it comes time for the fish eye effect with your settings, I get 2 dark lines on the image. Hi mackenzieh ! Thanks for trying this tutorial ! Before saying anything, let me ask you a question... Are you using the same picture I used as the model for this tutorial ? If not can you show me a screenshot, how does those dark lines looked like, or send me your pdn file to my inbox ? I need your answer for a clarification. Thanks ! Nai
The photo I used was a black pug. I have attached the photo. Thanks, Mackenzie Welcome ! Okay... Now I can see those dark lines. However, I'm not sure if that caused by settings you made on fish eye plugin or other things. It can be anything. To figure that out then solving it, I need the same original picture (before you run the plugin on it to emulate what are you doing ) or your blackpug.pdn file. Can you submit any of it to me ? When I'm really sure what had happened, I'll post the solution ASAP. Thanks !

Nai
I have the original photo. I'll will attach it. Thanks. Hi mackenzieh... I have figured out the nature of your problem... To solve it : Simply press 'Shift' key while you draw the ellipse selection on the layer. Next do inverse selection, then deleting the unwanted area. Re-select the area again by using magic wand on the empty area then do inverse selection. After that, just run the Fish Eye plugin. Here are what happened after figuring out the problem : Let me know what happened after you do so. Extra bonus tip : There're maybe some thin black outline left after running fish eye plugin. Just make it disappear by running AA's Assistant Plugin for several times. Hoping that it can help you a lot. All the best !

Rickhum
Great tut. Quite the challenge.Luv it. I've based attached piece on this tut minus enhancements. Had to tweak it a little to suit individual background pics which I took on my phone. Many thanks Nai. 5 “Go as far as you can see; when you get there, you'll be able to see further.” ― Thomas Carlyle
