JerryD
Paint.net forum, I downloaded Paint.net 4.0.0 and this is my first time using a paint program. In my session I have opened 2 pdf files. One contains a simple drawing and the other is just a solid color. My goal is to use one as a background and then make it transparent. They are shown as 2 different layers and I labeled one Foreground and the other Background. I have successfully erased the white pixels around the drawing and now I want to merge the 2 layers together. When I click on "Layers" the Merge option is grayed out. What am I doing wrong?Jerry D. BoltBait
Perhaps you are looking for Image > Flatten. Quote Download: BoltBait's Plugin Pack | CodeLab | and a Free Computer Dominos Game
JerryD
Bolt Bait, Thanks for the reply. I don't know what Image Flatten but it's also grayed out. I'll go read about it. Jerry D.
BoltBait
If the Image > Flatten menu item is grayed out, your image only has 1 layer. I'm thinking that you actually opened both pictures into different images. Can you show us a screenshot of your ENTIRE paint.net window? JerryD
I tried to attach a screen shot but got a message saying I couldn't use that kind of file in this forum? Jerry D.
BoltBait
Try uploading as JPG or PNG. Quote Download: BoltBait's Plugin Pack | CodeLab | and a Free Computer Dominos Game
JerryD
Here a PNG. Hope it worked.
BoltBait
Try this: :LeftArrowBlue: (click) Remember, when saving your final output, save as PDN format to retain layer information. Then, save as PNG to save a web safe version that retains transparency. 1 Quote Download: BoltBait's Plugin Pack | CodeLab | and a Free Computer Dominos Game
JerryD
Thanks, that worked. There isn't any help button on Paint.net. Is there a manual somewhere? Jerry D.
BoltBait
The paint.net manual can be viewed by pressing F1 from inside of paint.net. That will take you here: http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/index.html Quote Download: BoltBait's Plugin Pack | CodeLab | and a Free Computer Dominos Game
MJW
Or use the little blue question-mark icon in the upper-right corner if, like me, you haven't memorized all the keyboard shortcuts.
