swinster
Hi, I have read a few forum posts around this subject and it seems as though you can create a selection of an exact size, but not a drawing shape. What I'm after doing to create, say a rectangle, of 400 x 900 px, by simply typing to width and height, without resorting to a poor hand-eye co-ordination.Same would be true of any shape, such as specifying the circle diameter, etc. Is there a simple way to do this? Regards. Edited December 21, 2015 by swinster
Rick Brewster
This currently isn't possible like it is with the Rectangle Select tool -- you'll have to look at the status bar while drawing. One thing that should help tremendously is that while you have the mouse button down you can also use the arrow keys to push the mouse pointer around. swinster
Thanks for the feedback, Rick. Indeed, a simple way to draw exact size shapes through keyboard entry would be highly desirable, either in a similar manner to the Rectangle selection, or through entry in the status bar at the bottom, or even right clicking on the object and altering it properties before you have "finished" that object manipulation. I will look at the arrow key method, however, for this task I had to switch to another application.
OnkyD
could draw a rectangle of any old size then use "crop to selection" and save this as a png layer. You can then resize this png image to whatever dimensions you want... A bit of a cack-handed work around, but more exact than the drag method
BoltBait
@OnkyD please don't respond to really old posts. After 6 years, I'm sure the OP has either figured it out or moved on by now.
