lonesky1
Hello, I'm a total newcomer to paint.net; I've got the latest version. I'm exploring this because I couldn't do something rather simple in Microsoft Paint. I have printed out the entire "Help" section & read it, but cannot find this simple topic. I've also done a search a few times & came up with nothing. OK, the very simple thing I'm trying to do is this: After you've typed out some text, how do you selectively bolden or underline parts that you want? For a start, I tried highlighting the words that I wanted to impart these attributes, but I couldn't do it! (It appears you cannot highlight parts of a text. Is that right?). When I tried to bolden or highlight certain words or parts of a text, the entire text would be bolden or underlined! Same problem a I encountered in Microsoft Paint. Is this how it is meant to be? OR is there a way around it? I would really like to resolve this ASAP. Thanxx very much in advance for any help/advice.
pipp92
What do you mean with highlight? write certain words bigger? if so you have to write you text without the certain words, then click again on the and write your words with a bigger font. lonesky1
Hello xryan, I think you guys may not have fully understood what I am trying to do. Let me try to explain this 1 more time: I have a jpg graphic here. It contains some lines of text below it that I had inserted, using Microsoft PAINT. I wanted to make just some words in this text bold but I couldn't. When I highlighted those words to bolden them, ALL the text turned out bold. Same problem with 'underline'. So, just how do I do that now in Paint.net? Remember, the whole graphic now is in the form of jpg (including the text). [in a normal word-processor Like Microsoft WORD, when you've typed out some text, if you want to bolden (or underline) some words, you first highlight those words before you execute the bold (B) function. In paint.net, HOW do you choose some part of the text? I've discovered that you cannot highlight any text.]. Thanxx again
Stephan
There is no such option in Paint.NET yet. You will have to type the text you want bold separatly, and drag it into position on new layer.
lonesky1
Hello Stephan, Yours is the clearest, most concise answer, so far. So, I have to create a top layer, type the bold words on it, & then "superimpose" it on the 'bottom' layer which has the rest of the text & entire graphics? Sounds like a complicated process. . Would you be kind enough to give me the steps, starting with my original jpg which has the graphic & text in it? Thanxx a million!
threelui
thats simple just use several layers, one for each one like this:
ncfan51
I am NOT 100% positive, but this MIGHT be possible with sabrown100's Re-editable Text BETA. I have not used it in a while so it might not work... Quote +_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+ I am a disco dancer. +_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+
