Myrddin
Hello grammyjune. We would be most grateful if you could provide us with the image you want to remove tarnish from, so we can make a better assessment and recommend the best possible method. grammyjune
Photo with tarnish. The tarnish is very extensive. ncfan51
Go to Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast. Change the Brightness value to -42, and the Contrast value to 37. Quote +_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+ I am a disco dancer. +_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+
Myrddin
Gorgeous picture. You could also try Levels (Adjustments > Levels). Adjusting the Input points seem to give me the better results. I lowered the top most nodule slightly, and raised the bottom nodule a significant amount. Both should be experimented with as the variety of results can range from the outstanding to the down-right shoddy. All that was done with RGB being manipulated equally, so the three checkboxes ticked. Again, it might be in your better interest to experiment with the diverse degrees of colour adjustment, like more or less yellow (red and green). You can refer to the tutorial on Levels if you aren't comfortable with it, as I weren't until I digested it, now, it's an invaluable tool at my disposal for photograph editing.
