What kind of computer are you using?

Recommended Posts

Even so, it would have been more expensive if you had bought it somewhere

My computer was €2500 (it would be about half that now) I've seen the same specs go for €3000 back then

If you were talking about my computer making it myself... i tried that... it turned out about 1219$ so yeah i don't think so...

Then you're not looking right.

Or looking exactly right, but got a good computer as result (which would have been more expensive to buy whole)

Home-made does not make it "cheap", it makes it cheaper

The rest of the PC won't do it justice. The CPU is actually very underpowered, even though they won't tell you that. There's a great chance those 4 extra GB's won't make a difference, as it's all clogged up in the CPU.

My suggestion for your system:

CPU: Intel Q6600 (VERY overclockable)

GPU: For this once I'm gonna let you keep the 4850...

RAM: 4GB Corsair or GeiL, 800Mhz

Mobo: MSI P45 Neo3-FR

yeah i agree with whoever said " the 4GB extra of ram is not going to make much difference".

because to be honest in the future you might need those four gigabytes but for the next 3 years you won't need those.

You should try Everest. I think the home edition is free. It's for seeing all the details about your computer in one window, basically. It shows the temperatures of different components; such as the GPU, CPU and the motherboard. It names all the details about them and many more. The only thing I haven't found yet is my PSU. I so need to know it as I'm not in the mood to ram it open with screwdrivers.

I'm looking for a new GPU, so I need to know if my PSU can handle it. I love being underage. I can manipulate my parents with my grades. I'm so glad I'm not a 'bad' student.

dell 8) with windows xp

Wow, such details. Do you by any chance know the number on the box it came in, or did they unpack it for you and stuck it in a generic, locked case while you were at work, blocking all websites with hardware detection software like Everest, and even windows' own DXDiag and Computer Properties :o I feel terribly sorry for you. Do you even know if it's a laptop or a desktop, for that matter?

If you want to be cool, know your hardware, and lose the sunglasses. I feel your post could be qualified as spam.

Did you know most people don't have dxdiag these days?

It comes with DX SDK but not the redist versions anymore (and it's not a standard windows component either)

But that's no excuse to not know anything about your computer other than the maker..

Interesting... All the Windows XP's I ever installed and worked with came with DXdiag... Either way, he could've said it was, for example a Dell Dimension 1300 (I think that's a laptop...)

Quads are already cheap.. well the bad ones are. The good ones will never be cheap, so don't wait for it. (those that are good now will be cheap later - but they won't be good anymore)

Well Intels coming out with a new line of chips so I think they will have a slight decrease in price once the new ones start being sold.

Yup, and like I said, the old good one wouldn't be good anymore  (it would be heavily pwned by the new line)

@IntelMan: you have a pretty nice comp, I am somewhat surprised that you do not have 4GB ram or more? Is there any special reason for that? those 2 GT's and the CPU that is as fast as mine rock lol I really wish the GT existed when I build my comp.. (instead of that overpriced GTS 640MB..)

What's its 3DMark score?

hello Harold......only running a 32 bit os......xp will only recognize 2.75-3.25 gigs of ram out of 4 gigs....2 gigs is easier to oc also..

I just put the other gt in yesterday and have not tested it yet(still tweaking)...with 1 gt I get 15,103 in 3dmark06.....

@07patty----why are you telling me to shut up? I listed my specs w/some detail....anything wrong with that? dont be rude...
