  1. Sorry for the late response. I didn't even got an email notification, that I got an answer!

I installed the plugin and changed the hex signature of .mng (8a4d 4e47 0d0a 1a0a) to .apng(8950 4e47 0d0a 1a0a) and changed the extension to .apng but it didn't work :/

Any other ideas? In the attachment there is the .mng file if anyone can make sense of it.

    spinner.zip

  2. I am aware this is a very weird question, but does paint.net support .mng files?

The wiki says, that it does, but I couldn't manage to open it. I know that this format dates to like 2001 or something, but for some reason the creator of Launchy used it for the loading animation. And I am trying to make a skin for it.

  3. I am sorry but I have to give this a bump. I need this really badly for a project. I tried to use the given source-code myself, but I failed miserably.

Please if there is anybody out there who has any sort of coding skills, give this a try.

PS: To be clear: my first post was not a penis-joke. Click OP's link. There is an image split in 4 parts(A, B. C. D). Was talking about this "D"

  4. 1.Ok. let's try this way:

    pic 1

    -open up resizing window.

-mooe the mouse out of the resizing window area.

    pic 2

    -type anything into the field.

    -the cursor disappears.

    what should hapen:

-you move the mouse and the cursor appears again

what happens in the current build:

    pic 3

-the mouse only appears again if you move to the resizing window area(marked red)

I think its a bug because the other option "canvas resize" is not behaving like this.

    2. that's a pity.

    3. ok.

  5. Just as I posted this the thread got closed due to new build release so I am migrating it to here since it still occurs in the newest patch..

Oh and thank you for the quick fix for the selection bug.. that one was annoying.

    QUOTE:

I am not 100% sure, but this might be a bug:

When I open up the window to resize my image and type in a number, the mouse cursor disappears(which is right) but when you move you mouse it is still invisible, unless you hover over the resize-window. Ehm.. not sure how to explain it better... basically the mouse disappears and does not appear when moved but when hovering over the option-window area. Let me know if this was unclear. I'm gonna try this with images next time xD

Oh and (This is not a feature request....)  but I am just saying it would me much appreciated if we could use math inside numeric text box... like for ex: width is 236 and you want to make the image half its size. You could just type 236/2 and PEW 118 appears. This actively promotes people getting dumber.. but hey.. not everyone can be a genius  :P

This is Paint.NET 4.0-wide Bug for me:

When clicking very fast with some Tools (Example: Brush or Eraser) i get a pixelated Image next to the Mouse.

  7. Ok how should I put this... I think it is a pity that the PDN community and especially the higher-ups can sometimes get very annoyed and start being unfriendly. I am not talking about this minor incidence in here, but in general when I look at Rick's replays, there is so much hate and contemptuousness. like: "Read the Forum Rule NR 241B you M****F**ER! And don't ever come back here!!!" Ok obviously this never happened, but I always read his posts like that for some reason. To get back to the point: Queen Victoria obviously likes this software. So much in fact, that he actually signed up and put time and effort to write down what he thinks would even improve this beautiful piece of code. And what do we give him back? An angry: "no one cares what you have to say". I am not teaching anyone how to run a forum, but there is not many left of us here, and even less newbies so I personally wouldn't discourage them from posting.

I do apologize if this was inappropriate, but I felt this comment from me was long overdue.

And now to answer the original post:

Paint.net is a very slow evolving software, because it is free and lives of the donations. I even would say, that it is passion that holds everything together. But with passion you can't pay bills. Therefor development resources are limited. At the moment the main focus is to get the version 4.0 up and running. And after that, Rick promised to work on the most popular feature requests (link). For now I would say, help yourself with plugins where you can and don't expect any new features for the next few months.(Hopefully not years)

  8. Everything is coming together very well.

    Few issues tough:

1: Text tool leaves some artifacts when writing a text and deleting it again. The artifacts go away as soon as you move the text around but well still a minor bug I guess. (See pic one)

2: And the second one is a bit more important. When changing to maximum text size and moving the text around, the text gets jacked up (well obviously because of the tiled rendering of the canvas) but this impacts my i7 3.4GHz quit a bit. All 8 cores get 100% usage while moving the text. Is that a bug or just the way this is going to work? Funny thing is that the 1920x1080 background image doesn't even cause a quarter of the usage while moving around. (pic two)

  9. I was messing around with the new version for a bit and had several crashes. Most of them caused by plugins. "Polar Inversion Plus" was the one which caused most of the problems. I updated the plugin, hoping to solve it. Now it crashes instantaneously. (see attachment). Hope this helps somehow.

PS: if you are wondering what I was working on.... open up the spoiler ;)

I am still convinced, that the paint.net website should be reworked. My goal here is to inspire whoever is in charge of the website to maybe do some work on the site. (Ps: if needed I can provide the HTML and CSS files for this (The buttons are animated ;)))

    image.png

This is my  first ever fully handwritten site, so pls be kind ;)

  10. Pretty sure im not alone when i say i just wet myself a little.

    .. not only a little...

Great job on the alpha. Haven't had any crashes jet...

    few thoughts though:

    - As gege suggested the Rotation handles should really change.. was not very pleasant editing the following image.

    - Since the Magic wand tool automatically updates while adjusting the sensitivity, there should be a more precise input than just a slider..(for low tolerance it works just fine, but as soon you go over 50%, there is a slight lag spike and you already over adjusted it...)

    maybe something like this?

    image.png

    Now to something different:

v4.0 marks a new era in the paint.net history... Of course the most important part is the software, but I think the time has come to renew not only the software, but also the logo and website, which if you ask me needs a overhaul very badly... And why not make a competition out of it? You would not have to bother with design stuff and could fully concentrate on the code and the community would do the rest. And if everything turns out bloody potato, don't take it. Nothing to lose there.

sorry for being all over the place.. I'm just so excited :D

  11. Wow! Thanks again for the great feedback. I already thought about making tutorials but I think I'm gonna wait till version 4.0 release. Btw. does anyone know anything about the release date? Maybe even an unstable alpha test release..?

  12. Thanks a lot for the great response. I was kind of nervous that the community was extinct since the last paint.net update was years ago.( I hope 4.0 gets published soon. Can't wait:) )

I thought that since there were many different bundles like "MadJik' all plugins" and "Ed Harvey Effects", it was ok to put a pack together on my own. But I have cleared it out now.

  13. Hello everyone.

This is my very first post on this forum so please don't kill me if I'm doing something wrong:P

I am using Paint.net since.. I don't even know for sure, but it is a very long time now. So I thought why not share my pictures with the community and get involved a bit.

Well here it is.. hope you like it.

    1. Haeri

This one is one of my very first successful outcomes.. Was about 7-8 years ago.

    2. Vista Rainbow

This is when I found out that one could change the Windows wallpaper.

    3. Assassin's Creed

I made this one for a contest Ubisoft made on Facebook. Was quite popular.. got a bunch of likes.

    4. Haeri Blue-Light

Here I was trying out to make something like a bumpmap.. So that the texture looks more 3D. Sorry for always writing "Haeri" but I wasn't creative enough to write something else..

    5. Blue Planet

I really enjoy looking at pictures from the earth.. So I decided to make one on my own.
