  1. Sorry for the late response. I didn't even got an email notification, that I got an answer! I installed the plugin and changed the hex signature of .mng (8a4d 4e47 0d0a 1a0a) to .apng(8950 4e47 0d0a 1a0a) and changed the extension to .apng but it didn't work Any other ideas? In the attachment there is the .mng file if anyone can make sense of it. spinner.zip
  2. I am aware this is a very weird question, but does paint.net support .mng files? The wiki says, that it does, but I couldn't manage to open it. I know that this format dates to like 2001 or something, but for some reason the creator of Launchy used it for the loading animation. And I am trying to make a skin for it.
  3. I am glad to hear that the development has begun, so no pressure. Take your time. With the update-post I just wanted to showcase my work and I thought grand theory of everything wouldn't mind me posting here xD. But it is nice to hear that some design concepts were interesting for you. PS: Yeah I know the Ajax seems unnecessary for 4 pages, but I needed it for the image-slider to be continuous (and it is faster). So was all that work worth a gimmicky slider? - Hell yeah! PSPS: If you had a chance to take a glance at my smoothAjax function, let me know what you think. Would it be any good to "publish" it as a plugin? - I have seen other plugins doing the same except with an unnecessary animation step: -fade out -delete content -collapse holder(unnecesary) -load content -extend -fade in ex: (height: 30px -> 0px -> 46px) (demo) My approach was to: -get and set dimension -fade out -delete content -container doesn't collapse since dimensions set -load content -get dimensions from new content -animate from set dimension to new dimension -fade in ex: (height: 30px -> 46px)
  4. Since this thread got moved into GToE, I can basically talk about anything right? So I present to you paint.net web-page v1.5. I had some spare time and I thought why not finish this project. Even though this is only a mock-up page and won't be needed for anything, I personally gained a great bit of experience in web development and with javaScript. Further more I tried to write in a modular fashion, meaning every functional module can be stripped out and put into another site. Now to the changes: - The once empty blog box, is now fully functional and feeds the new posts right from Ricks blog-site - The header-image-slider got a upgrade in functionality. By clicking on the image it will expand and display information about the image and the artist and will provide a link to the artist. - The download section got updated with a simple tab design. The version can be chosen by: "Final release", "Alpha Release", "Older versions". (The links are obviously fake xD) - The page was running with Ajax. Now I wrote a "plugin" which allows all load functions to be smoothly loaded and displayed. (Everything that is sliding around is handled by my smoothAjax.js) - The site will react as expected when reloading, going back and going forward(Can't demonstrate since I have no rights to manipulate .htaccess on my university server but it works. trust me. Took me a long time to figure out how to pass url from .htaccess to php and than to javaScript) If you are too lazy to scroll up here is the link Hope you like it Haeri ;D
  5. I am sorry but I have to give this a bump. I need this really badly for a project. I tried to use the given source-code myself, but I failed miserably. Please if there is anybody out there who has any sort of coding skills, give this a try. PS: To be clear: my first post was not a penis-joke. Click OP's link. There is an image split in 4 parts(A, B. C. D). Was talking about this "D"
  6. 1.Ok. let's try this way: pic 1 -open up resizing window. -mooe the mouse out of the resizing window area. pic 2 -type anything into the field. -the cursor disappears. what should hapen: -you move the mouse and the cursor appears again what happens in the current build: pic 3 -the mouse only appears again if you move to the resizing window area(marked red) I think its a bug because the other option "canvas resize" is not behaving like this. 2. that's a pity. 3. ok.
  7. Just as I posted this the thread got closed due to new build release so I am migrating it to here since it still occurs in the newest patch.. Oh and thank you for the quick fix for the selection bug.. that one was annoying. QUOTE: I am not 100% sure, but this might be a bug: When I open up the window to resize my image and type in a number, the mouse cursor disappears(which is right) but when you move you mouse it is still invisible, unless you hover over the resize-window. Ehm.. not sure how to explain it better... basically the mouse disappears and does not appear when moved but when hovering over the option-window area. Let me know if this was unclear. I'm gonna try this with images next time xD Oh and (This is not a feature request....) but I am just saying it would me much appreciated if we could use math inside numeric text box... like for ex: width is 236 and you want to make the image half its size. You could just type 236/2 and PEW 118 appears. This actively promotes people getting dumber.. but hey.. not everyone can be a genius I get this every time.

  9. Ok how should I put this... I think it is a pity that the PDN community and especially the higher-ups can sometimes get very annoyed and start being unfriendly. I am not talking about this minor incidence in here, but in general when I look at Rick's replays, there is so much hate and contemptuousness. like: "Read the Forum Rule NR 241B you M****F**ER! And don't ever come back here!!!" Ok obviously this never happened, but I always read his posts like that for some reason. To get back to the point: Queen Victoria obviously likes this software. So much in fact, that he actually signed up and put time and effort to write down what he thinks would even improve this beautiful piece of code. And what do we give him back? An angry: "no one cares what you have to say". I am not teaching anyone how to run a forum, but there is not many left of us here, and even less newbies so I personally wouldn't discourage them from posting. I do apologize if this was inappropriate, but I felt this comment from me was long overdue. And now to answer the original post: Paint.net is a very slow evolving software, because it is free and lives of the donations. I even would say, that it is passion that holds everything together. But with passion you can't pay bills. Therefor development resources are limited. At the moment the main focus is to get the version 4.0 up and running. And after that, Rick promised to work on the most popular feature requests (link). For now I would say, help yourself with plugins where you can and don't expect any new features for the next few months.(Hopefully not years)
  10. I want this, all over me, right now! Especially the type "D".
  11. That's funny. I made a very similar post a while ago. :http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/27741-the-website/ Well I think it's clear...You have my back!
  12. Everything is coming together very well. Few issues tough: 1: Text tool leaves some artifacts when writing a text and deleting it again. The artifacts go away as soon as you move the text around but well still a minor bug I guess. (See pic one) 2: And the second one is a bit more important. When changing to maximum text size and moving the text around, the text gets jacked up (well obviously because of the tiled rendering of the canvas) but this impacts my i7 3.4GHz quit a bit. All 8 cores get 100% usage while moving the text. Is that a bug or just the way this is going to work? Funny thing is that the 1920x1080 background image doesn't even cause a quarter of the usage while moving around. (pic two) Diddeli do Haeri
  13. That's exactly what I was trying to achieve: Get people excited to see their creations, featured on the official site. Furthermore I implemented a little banner under the Header to provide more information and a link to the artist.(I had to hide it till I find a better placement. It was not fitting as it was.) Oh and I have a beard
  14. haha that dotPDN link confused me as well the first time
  15. OK. This is my very last post about this topic. If I did annoy anyone, I do apologize. just close this thread and I will never ever talk about it. Now that that is out of the way, here the main post: I think that Paint.net 4.0 is a milestone, which should be treated accordingly. I was waiting for it about 2-3 years now? Yes it was scheduled for 2012. So I thought what could I do to honor this great piece of software.. Obviously the best thing that can happen is Paint.net to get more downloads, which would increase the chance of donations, to repay the hard work of the devs( not sure is there anyone else than Rick working on this?). I am not famous on YouTube so the next best thing I thought was to give Paint.NET a better presentation platform. Meaning the website. Again I don't want to assault anyone involved in making the website. It is a very solid site, but it just does not fit the new generation style of websites. Why does that even bother me? It is just a site where you download it. - And that's the point. The Loyal Paint.net user doesn't care how the site looks, but every single new user, who visits the site to download it just gets greeted by a elderly looking site. And there goes the first impression. The exact same thing happened to me with audacity. I am sure everyone knows the great free audio editing software Audacity. It is a great software, but the website did not represent that. I barely used it a second time... I don't know why.. I always associated old things with it.. Complaining without solutions is a bad thing so I started learning HTML. And this is what it looks so far. Click (Obviously the page is mostly lorem impsum content and some things are not finished yet. Oh and a little off topic question: The content of the page gets loaded in with jQuery. Therefor I had to do some pushState to generate a history, but I still can't figure out how to forward the right subpage ex: paint.net/features to show the right content, since that sub directory does not really exist because the content "features" gets loaded into the index.php.. If anyone knows the answer pls tell me! I am going nuts because of that) So are you trying to get your design to be the main paint.net website? - Of course not. any leaving creature with a brain bigger than a nut, would slap me in the face after looking at the source code. I am just trying to visually present some ideas I hat to be featured in the website: - Obviously: a new design - A header, which contains a slideshow with the best forum creations of the month/year(to give people some motivation to make high quality content and therefor to get featured on the main page)(In my version there is a folder where those images can be placed in and the site does automatically update according to the number of images) - A place where one can download any version you like sorted by alpha/beta/current and older versions - A news page as the index page If there is any interest, feel free to copy what you like. It is all handwritten by me and therefor crappy I think that's all. thank you for reading. sincerely Haeri UPDATE================================================================================================================================================================= Since this thread got moved into GToE, I can basically talk about anything right? 16. I was messing around with the new version for a bit and had several crashes. Most of them caused by plugins. "Polar Inversion Plus" was the one which caused most of the problems. I updated the plugin, hoping to solve it. Now it crashes instantaneously. (see attachment). Hope this helps somehow. PS: if you are wondering what I was working on.... open up the spoiler CrashDump.zip
  17. .. not only a little... Great job on the alpha. Haven't had any crashes jet... few thoughts though: - As gege suggested the Rotation handles should really change.. was not very pleasant editing the following image. ‚Äč- Since the Magic wand tool automatically updates while adjusting the sensitivity, there should be a more precise input than just a slider..(for low tolerance it works just fine, but as soon you go over 50%, there is a slight lag spike and you already over adjusted it...) maybe something like this? Now to something different: v4.0 marks a new era in the paint.net history... Of course the most important part is the software, but I think the time has come to renew not only the software, but also the logo and website, which if you ask me needs a overhaul very badly... And why not make a competition out of it? You would not have to bother with design stuff and could fully concentrate on the code and the community would do the rest. And if everything turns out bloody potato, don't take it. Nothing to lose there. sorry for being all over the place.. I'm just so excited
  18. Wow! Thanks again for the great feedback. I already thought about making tutorials but I think I'm gonna wait till version 4.0 release. Btw. does anyone know anything about the release date? Maybe even an unstable alpha test release..?
  19. Thanks a lot for the great response. I was kind of nervous that the community was extinct since the last paint.net update was years ago.( I hope 4.0 gets published soon. Can't wait:) ) I thought that since there were many different bundles like "MadJik' all plugins" and "Ed Harvey Effects", it was ok to put a pack together on my own. But I have cleared it out now. Regards Haeri
  20. Hello everyone. This is my very first post on this forum so please don't kill me if I'm doing something wrong:P I am using Paint.net since.. I don't even know for sure, but it is a very long time now. So I thought why not share my pictures with the community and get involved a bit. Well here it is.. hope you like it. 1. Haeri This one is one of my very first successful outcomes.. Was about 7-8 years ago. 2. Vista Rainbow This is when I found out that one could change the Windows wallpaper. 3. Assassin's Creed I made this one for a contest Ubisoft made on Facebook. Was quite popular.. got a bunch of likes. 4. Haeri Blue-Light Here I was trying out to make something like a bumpmap.. So that the texture looks more 3D. Sorry for always writing "Haeri" but I wasn't creative enough to write something else.. 5. Blue Planet I really enjoy looking at pictures from the earth.. So I decided to make one on my own. 6. Battlefield Play4Free Again a contest for the game Battlefield Play4Free by EAsy. This is also my last image I created with Paint.net. I hope you enjoyed my pics. You can finde all in different image sizes to download on my website: Haeri Studios
