  1. I have several PNG files that are in a relatively low resolution. I want to do some fine tuning of the images and to do that I need to increase the resolution. Can this be done with paint.net?
  2. You hit the nail on the head! The canvas was set to 96 dpi, and the image was at 300 dpi. I set both at 300, and wallah! it works as I expected it to. THANK YOU!
  3. I set up a new canvas size at 10 x 8 inches. I then opened an image that is 2.54 x 3.54 inches. I copied the image, then tried to add it to my new canvas. Paint then changed the image size to 10 x 8, and the canvas to 3.54 x 2.54. How to I lock the canvas at my setting, and not allow the program to alter the image size? I have added images smaller than the canvas before, and never had this problem. This is strange!
  4. I often need an area of one color, where the color varies in darkness from one end to another. A solid area is obviously easy, but how can I select an area, then flood it with a color where I can select one shade of the color at one end, then as darker shade at the other end, and get a smooth gradient across the area? I hope I am describing this so you can understand me. Thank you
  5. I want to create a collage of small pictures. I would like some of the pictures to be rotated, but not at 90 deg or 180 - at smaller angles off normal. I do not see how to rotate an image by a preselected angle, or rotate on the fly. As a second question, for the pictures I want to make the background [usually a solid color, white] transparent so I can overlay one object with another. How do I make just the background fully transparent, without affecting an object?
  6. Pixey, and Pdnnoob you both have the right idea. I have more or less figureed out how to do this, with one exception. I am using the circular text plugin, however, I want the text at the bottom of the circle to face upright, not be upside down. I am assuming now that I have to create the text in two parts - the upper half and the lower half seperately.
  7. Thank you for all of the suggestions, however, I do not think I made myself clear. I am attaching a crude attempt to do what I want – 2 concentric circles with circular text inside the circles. I downloaded the circle text plug-in, that works great, but the question is how to first get perfect circles, the make them concentric, then, finally, arrange the text symmetrically inside the circles?
  8. I've been around computers for 40 years, but must admit, I am a rank newbie at paint.net I'm hoping there is a tutorial somewhere that will explain the following: 1) I want to create two concentric circles, then insert circular text in between the circles. I can easily create 2 circles, but how to get them concentric and sized independently? Then how do I align the text to be in between the circles? Can I put each item on a different layer, then move the layers independently? If so, how do I do that? 2) I want to make the background of a JPG transparent, then add it to the inside of the circle/text arrangement. Can I "fill" a color with a transparent color? So much to learn, and so little time to do it!
  9. Wow! Instant help, and perfect. EXACTLY what I wanted. Thank you you much!
  10. I would like to create a family crest. I have a JPG for the center, but I need two concentric circles, with text around the circumference, between the circles. I have not got the slightest idea how to do this. Can someone advise me? Thank you bfor any input.
